HUFF AND PUFF

Nghĩa đen:

huff là nói một cách bực bội, gắt gỏng. puff là thở hồng hộc. 

Nghĩa rộng:

hai nghĩa:

• Thở hổn hển, thở hồng hộc, hết hơi (như trong ví dụ 1)
• Làm ầm ỹ lên để dọa ai đó, nhưng không đến nơi đến chốn, không làm ai sợ, không có tác dụng (như trong ví dụ 2)

Tiếng Việt có cách dùng tương tự:

Thở hổn hển; làm nhặng xị lên, hùng hùng hổ hổ, nói sùi bọt mép…

Ví dụ:
