Nov 21, 2014 29 0 4,530 I can't fit a Hyper 212 Evo into my current case so would I be better buying the NZXT S340 and getting the Hyper 212 or keep my current case (Corsair Carbide Spec 01) and get the Noctua NH-U9S? I have a AMD FX 8350 and don't plan on overclocking. So really my question is: Is the hyper 212 Evo better than the Noctua NH-U9S? Solution As he says, if you're not overclocking, the stock cooler should do, although it may become loud under load. If you want to replace it with something quieter, see http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2478892/alternatives-hyper-212-evo-budget-cooling.html for a list of alternatives. The Hyper212 EVO is not a bad cooler, but is a bang/buck Loser compared to its competitors. You could even get a smaller one (92mm vs. 120mm), although some 92mm PWM fans tend to whine compared to 120mm models. Sort by date Sort by votes chadbry

Ambassador Jan 1, 2013 24,574 650 91,240 I would suggest an aftermarket cooler whether you're overclocking or not - the 8350 runs hot ,the stock cooler is barely capable even at stock speeds & its noisy as ****. What's your max budget for a new cooler? Also what's your motherboard model? Upvote 0 Downvote C

Ambassador Jan 1, 2013 24,574 650 91,240 The evo is slightly better & a lot better value. I wouldn't change your whole case for it though. There are other options to those 2 that will do a good (or even better job). Upvote 1 Downvote Onus

Jan 27, 2006 37,036 12 89,965 The NH-U9S is a 92mm cooler, and Newegg's price on it is $58. That makes the 120mm Hyper212 EVO the better choice of those two. www.frostytech.com has a large listing of cooler reviews, and maintains a number of "10 best" lists. Edit: If the Hyper212 EVO means buying a new case, then unless you wanted to do that anyway, the NH-U9S is the better deal. Upvote 0 Downvote C

Dec 7, 2009 6,308 0 32,960 First off, I cannot locate a Noctua NH-US9. So I went with what I could find which was the Noctua NH-U9S. The Noctua Fans are far higher quality, and will blow more air, and do so very quietly . It also comes with a 6 year warranty. I just replaced the fan on my 212 EVO with one from Noctua, and replaced my case fans with Noctua fans as well. Upvote 0 Downvote madmatt30

Jan 27, 2006 37,036 12 89,965 He has said that 120mm tower-style coolers will not fit in his case. This rules out the Hyper212 EVO. Upvote 0 Downvote MarkW

Dec 7, 2009 6,308 0 32,960 Then the Noctua would be the one choice he listed that will work. Upvote 0 Downvote You must log in or register to reply here. Share: Facebook X (Twitter) Reddit Tumblr WhatsApp Email Share Link
