Impound Release Requirements

Impound Release Requirements

Vehicle releases are available Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Fridays from 7:30 - 4:30 p.m. excluding holidays. Vehicles will be released to the registered owner only. All vehicle registration fees must be current, and a valid driver's license must be presented at the time of the release. Driver's licenses and vehicle registration status will be verified by the Signal Hill Police Department prior to releasing the vehicle.

A release must be obtained from the Signal Hill Police Department prior to the vehicle being released from the impound yard. The Signal Hill Police Department charges a fee for all vehicle releases (see below).

The registered owner or their agent must appear with a valid driver's license, and all vehicle registration fees must be paid in full. If the registered owner does not possess a valid driver's license, he or she must appear with a valid DMV identification card and a licensed driver. Persons acting as "agents" may be required to possess a power of attorney or a notarized letter authorizing the "agent" to operate on the owner's behalf.
