When an urgent request arrived on the eve of a major murder trial, colleagues from across HMCTS worked together to deliver a critical technical solution. They protected a witness’s identity, upheld the principle of Open Justice and made sure the trial could proceed fairly.

From Blackpool's new courthouse to London's state-of-the-art City of London law courts on Fleet Street, major developments are transforming justice facilities across England and Wales, delivering accessible, modern buildings for all.

When a high-profile trial moved from the Old Bailey to Northampton Crown Court, the team adapted to support a defendant with complex mobility and medical needs in an inaccessible historic building — showcasing true teamwork.

Students from two London schools took part in a mock trial at Westminster Magistrates’ Court to learn about the real consequences of knife crime.

Every day, Prisoner Escort and Custody Services (PECS) colleagues play a crucial role in ensuring the court runs smoothly and everyone in their care remains safe. 

PECS ensures safe, timely prisoner transport across England and Wales, managing 600,000 moves yearly. With strict performance metrics and collaboration across justice partners, it plays a vital role in supporting court operations and access to justice.
