Install and configure Xserver Virtual Frame Buffer (Xvfb) To create and display reports on a Linux server, Xvfb must be installed and running. ccm29To create and display reports on a Linux server, Xvfb must be installed and running.Determine if Xvfb is running
  1. Open a terminal session.
  2. Display Xvfb process status. ps –ef | grep Xvfb
  3. If Xvfb is running, proceed to Configure Automatic Start Up. If Xvfb is not running, proceed to Determine if Xvfb is Installed but Not Running.
Determine if Xvfb is installed but not running
  1. Look for the Xvfb process in the following folder:/usr/bin/Xvfb
  2. If Xvfb is present but not running, proceed to 1.3  Configure automatic start up.If it is not present, proceed to 1.3  Download and install Xvfb.
Download and install XvfbIf Xvfb is not already installed, perform the following steps:
  1. Log in as the root user.
  2. Download the .rpm file which corresponds to your version of Linux:Linux version 6.2, 64 bithttp://mirror.centos.org/centos/6/os/x86_64/Packages/xorg-x11-server-Xvfb-1.10.4-6.el6.x86_64.rpmLinux version 5.x, 64 bithttp://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/x86_64/CentOS/xorg-x11-server-Xvfb-1.1.1-48.90.el5.x86_64.rpm
  3. Install the rpm package with the following command:[root@xxxx]# rpm -ivh packagename.rpm
  4. Configure and start the server as described in the next section.
Configure Automatic Start UpEdit the rc.local file to start the server automatically on boot, then start the server.
  1. After the package is installed, add the following line to the /etc/rc.local file to start the server on boot: /usr/bin/Xvfb :1 -screen 0 1152x900x8&
  2. Either reboot the system to start the Xvfb server or manually run the following command to start the Xvfb server without rebooting the system: /usr/bin/Xvfb :1 -screen 0 1152x900x8&
