MrDucktape So I have this old netbook and I haven't actually ever used it as it runs a Linux distribution that annoys me so much so I was thinking that maybe I can install windows XP but I haven't found much information about this and don't really know if it'd work or if it'll have drivers for available, so I was woindering if anyone with more experience with this could share it with meand tell me if it's a viable option. Thanks wink.gif #1 · Sep 1, 2012 So I have this old netbook and I haven't actually ever used it as it runs a Linux distribution that annoys me so much so I was thinking that maybe I can install windows XP but I haven't found much information about this and don't really know if it'd work or if it'll have drivers for available, so I was woindering if anyone with more experience with this could share it with meand tell me if it's a viable option. Mint maybe? #3 · Sep 1, 2012 To tell the truth I primarily wanted to bench and get some points in HWBOT, that's why I wanted to install Windows xP, however I may consider going back to Linux after that but I don't feel as comfortable with this OS as I do with Windows in general. #4 · Sep 1, 2012 I don't know about hwbot and such, but a distro like mint is very easy to get used to. Easyer then windows, most of the time. Running LMDE Xfce (which would be my suggested version of mint) will also be faster and use less memory then xp #5 · Sep 1, 2012 these would be the windows xp drivers i believe: http://ts.hercules.com/download/ecafe/EC-800-H20GS-Linux/EC_800_XP_drivers.zip good luck! won't be a speed demon, 512mb RAM, and a 500mhz processor, will be on the slow side for sure ( source for drivers: http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=13&fid=47&pid=225&cid=1 you gotta select linux, and you'll see the xp driverpack in the download list) #6 · Sep 6, 2012 Thx for the info! I know it won't be a speed demon or anything like that, as long as I can view PDF's and play minesweeper and maybe, just maybe, check this forum, I'm good with it. Insert Quotes Post Reply
