This processor shouldn't exist in this century

This processor shouldn't exist, but it's cheap and because of the absurd prices of these types of components compared to many families' annual incomes, it's worth it simply because it gives low-income individuals the chance to have access to technology and the internet. It runs Windows 11 on Lenovo Ideapad 145 with SSD and 4GB DDR4 RAM. But as I said, it's only really for accessing the internet! Streaming in 1080p stutters without a dedicated graphics card! Moving the mouse in Windows 11 uses between 20 to 50% of the processor. It can run CS 1.6, Brawlhalla, Minecraft, Fallout Shelter, and other lighter 2D games. Remember that its biggest bottleneck is in graphics.

Pros

  • Cheap

Cons

  • All the other things that a processor should have to run the OPERATING SYSTEM and internet without freezing

Hello everyone, I've tested the Intel Celeron N4000 processor for 5 years and while it's not a powerhouse, it's excellent in terms of power consumption. It uses up only 10 watts in boost mode, which is very low. With this processor, you can easily watch YouTube, Netflix, and Canal+ in 1080p. Don't push it too much though - browsing the internet and gaming are okay, but for anything more than Candy Crush, it's a bit of a stretch. Overall, the performance is satisfactory for casual tasks. I've tested this processor on Windows 11 version 22h2 and 23h2, and on occt. The temperatures range from 75° in boost when on Netflix, between 70 and 60° depending on the movie, and around 50 to 60° when browsing the internet. Idle temperatures range between 35 and 40° depending on external temperatures. All these tests were done on a Lenovo with passive cooling (no fan), which is great. However, the only issue I found is that it struggles with just 4GB of RAM, especially if you're not running the lightweight version of Windows. But other than that, it's not a bad processor. It's simple, cheap, and energy efficient. With Netflix, your power consumption lies between 4 and 5 watts. You can't really find better. Just don't expect too much from it - it's still running well 6 years after I got it, with no decrease in performance, as long as you optimize Windows. Ideally, they should put in 8GB of RAM and it would be perfect. After a thermal paste change and adding some pads to the VRMs, which were originally not up to handling the boost mode, I noticed a significant improvement. Adding pads to the RAM also helped. With a few physical mods and Windows optimization, it's a great processor for everyday tasks.

Pros

  • Low power consumption
  • Reliable
  • Low heat emission
  • Perfect for daily use (Netflix, YouTube, browsing)
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Could use more cores (only 2)
  • Low gaming performance
  • Bootup sometimes slow, especially after updates

The Celeron N4000 is a highly usable processor in my Chromebook. You can't expect gaming performance or similar, but it's more than enough for browsing, writing emails, and watching videos. Also, it is very energy-efficient, as I've experienced approximately 14 hours of battery life. Even 4k YouTube videos aren't a problem.

Pros

  • Very affordable
  • Energy-efficient
  • You can overclock it with Chrome Flags

Cons

  • Not the highest performance
  • Can rapidly reach its limits
