The i3-10100F matches the specifications of the i7-4790K in terms of Cores/Threads which remains a good processor today. This i3-10100F gives us 3.6GHz in base frequency and 4.3GHz in Turbo frequency. So, compared to the i7-4790K, it has 0.4GHz less in base frequency but only 0.1GHz less in Turbo mode. The i3-10100F has less L3 cache memory than the i7-4790K (2MB less so 6MB in total) but the same other characteristics. According to VERSUS website, the i7-4790K is the winner compared to the i3-10100F... why is it winning? Because the i7-4790K has integrated graphics, while the i3-10100F does not. However, what makes the 10100F superior to the i7-4790K is simply that the 10100F has DDR4-2666MHz charging function, while the 4790K only supports up to DDR3-1600MHz MAX. Conclusion: the i3-10100F remains and is a good processor (perhaps one of the best in its range). It allows you to play either recent or older games, paired with a GPU or graphic chip. But don't expect to get loads of FPS out of it, I would say it is more suited for office/multimedia PC than for gaming, but you can still use it for gaming.
