Global demand has grown by nearly 60% since 2000, with all the increase coming in emerging and developing economies. The IEA's latest flagship report sees the world’s need for energy services expanding in all scenarios, with demand rising across the transport, buildings and industry sectors, and increasingly for data and AI.
