Hello. I bought two iPhone 12 and both has the same issue. In dark surrounding on any brightness lower than 90-100% screen has this ugly glowing! Black pixels are not turning off in dynamic scenes. In static scene black pixels turning off after few seconds.

My video shows it in video and in clock app.

https://youtu.be/BAWSIf2oVlE

And this is comparison by another one person who have this problem but with iPhone 12 Pro. iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone XS screen.

That’s not normal at all. I post it to support and they said I should wait more. That’s just great...

iPhone 12, iOS 14

SO after getting two brand new iphone 12 pro max, after ordering Like 9 models , i can confirm all fot this weird LCD like screen in pitch black room on a blakc wallappaer in full screen in photos apps ( to reproduce the issue easily ) or even by jut booting each phones out of the box in my bathroom with no lights on , ( you see this grey flicker...

I got 2 12 pro max today starting with F2 week 51 of production, like most of the ones i got , it's way better than the last one i got starting with G0... the issue is still present but barely visible specialy on one model + no yellow tint...

So i send pics to apple, and they confirmed to me THAT THEY DO NOT READ THESE FORUMS... AT ALL...

if u cant this minor issue ( in their opinion and i agree ) to be fixed , you need to call them and spend 30 min or 1 hour max with tech support and explain them all of this.. issue is software cos it never happen with brigthness at 100% and when the phone boot at first, the screen is perfect , you see the apple logo and then the grey flicker comes for a few seconds, it means that so cores components that initialize when booting up like all the sensor in the notch must be causing a little software bug that most ppl do not see.

they do have enough reports of this specific issue.. if all the people here were to call them maybe they'll will really look into the issue.. i've send pictures to them, spent some time with them, and it's the only solution for a fix to be coming ASAP.

hope most of you will calll them . otherwise they may fix it when 13 is released..

  • Iphone 12 Display Issue Hi, I have Iphone 12, Which I bought in January and for few days I have noticed, that Display behaves very strange. I do not use True tone, Auto Brightness or Night Shift, I have everything (true tone, auto-brightness from accessibility too) turned off, but In more light areas display is lighter and in dark areas - darker and this kind of transaction is visible. I do not know why this happens, I have dropped my phone several times, but could it cause such an strange effect for OLED panel maybe? If anybody has same problem, please share it with me and what you think - can it be software issue or OLED ? 1054 2
  • Problem with OLED Hello! I recently (7 days ago) bought an iPhone 12 Pro! iOS 14.7.1 When the Dark mode is on, when scrolling from the bottom of the lines, lilac colors are left! The phone is brand new! I searched all over the Internet and found that almost 56% of people have this problem with black colors! I need an answer: These are iOS bugs or glitches, or a problem with the OLED displays themselves. In the picture below, all this is poorly visible! Well, I think you can trust that information. Because Apple follows a specific “code” with their serial numbers. You don’t even need such sites to determine when and where your phones where manufactured. The numbers and letters are dedicated to specific factories and production dates. You can google that and manually check for yourself. Aside from that Apple produces millions of devices in no time. And if they produced more devices last year than maybe they expected to sell during the Xmas season but didn’t, it may very well be that they still got stock that was produced last year.

I’m not trying to say that it’s only that issue that makes me want it replaced. I just have felt that this display panel has not been a good one. When booting the phone the Apple logo helps show the spread of light where other OLEDs don’t seem to be like that. Possibly the screen protector I got from apple? But it shouldn’t be? I was updating to a _”Goldfish”_ version of iOS (can’t say the word here or will be removed) helped the logo to stay on longer to show the issue

heck if I can tell. I would say yes to the bottom navigation bar light emitting into the black areas but it could be the glass screen protector I got from Apple…. I don’t wanna take it off to find out. With night shift it definitely seems to appear more greenish I just don’t understand why the grey bars in dark mode don’t appear to be uniformly one solid color rather than sorta patchy bars…. Also at 0 brightness the grey color definitely shifts blue ….I don’t think that’s normal. But I don’t own another OLED iPhone to compare…..

Lucky you. But I don’t it’s not fixed completely. I Updated to 14.5. I don’t see the glow on startup. But I still have the glow when displaying black photos and uneven green tint when displaying grey pics. Same as before.

You are lucky to get fixed. But all of us aren’t. I never had the green tint issue i had this dim glow. Anyway its not fixed in mine. I have another issue in my phone. There is a whitish spot on my screen if i look it off axis but if i look straight its not there. Its there from since I bought it. Does anyone knows what it is. My brother bought the phone from UAE and he did not check it well and i never had this problem so i did not ask him to check that also. About tint i knew 12 series have it and hoped apple will fix it and trusting apple bought it. But this spot please someone let me know what it is

You sure? Because touch everything is working fine there. I really don’t want to take it to repair thats why waiting for an official statement from apple about the green tint. This spot has nothing to do with the screen right i mean the screen quality like the lcd screen will get these spot eventually and get bigger and another main reason I don’t wanna take it to repair is that in India no official apple store so when taken to 3rd party repair they charge us even phone in warranty and also service is very bad. I am waiting to ho to uae bcz its where I bought the phone or soon i will go back to china to continue my studies i am just waiting to show it to direct apple store. If its lamination issue i am thinking to wait? Whats t ur opinion

Same here i was using a xs max its nit even worth to upgrade from xs max. The biggest mistake of my lofe selling xsmax and taking 12 pro max. I felt camera is a big downgrade than an upgrade. The photos are always overexposed especially the selfies. Selfies are so bad if there is a bright background the hdr is very bad. The video at 4k 60fps always flickers. The display always dim glow basically its a phone with ton of issues. Apple was so bad with their phones they just rushed without any quality control. I sold my 12 pro max and got a cheaper mi phone. Will see for 13 pro max if they don’t fix any of these issues i am done with apple. At Premium price we expect premium products

Mine just started acting up this moment. It only happens when the screen changes (scrolling etc) but then it’ll flicker true black/green twice and work normally until I touch it again. The green tint isn’t too noticeable, I only realized when I looked carefully.

Well, as an 11 pro owner I can say we have good blacks on our screens but we also get scratches if our inner pockets aren't covered in finest suede ( sarcasm).

Having said that, at least we can address the issue by getting a screen protector.

And I was going to upgrade to 12pro...

It’s July iOS 14.6 iPhone 12. The flickering issue is still present. I went to the Apple service to show them the issue they kept my phon under observation for 1 day but said they couldn’t find the issue. It’s like Apple has just ignored this flaw because they might have to recall every iPhone 12 ever made. Some people don’t even realise that their iPhone has this issue which is even more upsetting because there’s not enough people complaining for Apple to look into this

Different people seem to be sensitive to screen issues; I've never, ever seen an OLED screen flicker, even in videos posted online talking about how bad it is.

I just don't see it.

But then again I am very sensitive to DLP rainbows.

I have already contacted Apple Support. They just told me the same thing as the last time I spoke to them, it’s under investigation, keep my phone up to date, they are not treating it as a hardware issue at this time.

I’ve had my 12 since the beginning. This issue was never resolved completely. Even under beta software it was never fixed. I guess Apple wants the warranties to run out before admitting to anything? Most disappointing phone I’ve ever owned.
