ANY web address (URL) that ENDS in apple.com is legitimate

ara.apple.com REDIRECTS to ara-prn.apple.com - a page that asks that you agree to Terms & Conditions of letting Apple install an app to take control of your computer

I would not trust it. The only people who would ask to share your screen would be Apple advisers during a phone call and they cannot take control, they would only observe what is going on on your screen.

You are right.

This is not like Apple Remote Access (as I assumed)

After you download the application, Apple Support will be

able to view and record your screen as part of your support session,

but cannot access your files or control your computer. You should

remove from view on your screen, anything that you would prefer Apple

did not see or record as part of your session. Sessions are recorded

for quality and customer service purposes. Recordings are retained

for 30 days.

Be very careful. Are you sure the link actual directs to apple.com? Anyone can make a link that looks like it is to apple.com but actually links elsewhere.

That's what I thought. Apple Remote Desktop has been around for a LONG time.

Let me nitpick CCC.

Ends with

.apple.com

or is

apple.com

since

bad-site-apple.com ends with apple.com

😱

I have to add that isn't entirely true. I don't need to call Apple's support very often, but I've had two or three instances where they had direct control of my computer.

For Apple, the access is built into the OS. They don't have the user download third party software like LogMeIn or Teamviewer.

From the original Dumbo cartoon, or Song of the South? The latter is now considered so cringingly racist that it's unlikely Disney would ever re-release it to video as they have with just about all of their other works.

Humble pie, or crow. You must consume the less desirable of the two. 😁

Heckle and Jeckle are magpies, but I would think just as unpalatable. 😀
