Will Java run on the new M1 Power Pro?
I know about these for the M1 chip, but have not tried them.
jdk-16-ea+10-macos+aarch64.tar
openjdk-aarch64-16-ea-10-macos
OpenJDK8U-jdk_x64_mac_hotspot_8u302b08
zulu8.56.0.23-ca-jdk8.0.302-macosx_aarch64
None of these are from Oracle, so I am hesitant to buy a new MacBook.
I apologize in advance for being a Java developer, but I am and this is important to me.

- m1 chip and java Specifically I run a program called Visual-Paradigm. It uses: `OpenJDK Runtime Environment 11.0.7+10` Does Apple have any input on this situation? Are you working with Oracle, for instance? Can we expect an announcement on M1 and Java? 11956 6

- Can I run minecraft Java on my Mac? I have been looking at the system requirements of minecraft Java edition and I don’t fully understand them (I don’t understand them at all 😂) and I am not sure if my early 2015 MacBook Pro can run it. It’s the 2.9 GHz model. It’s the oldest MacBook Pro model that can currently run Monterey (it currently is on high sierra but I can update it). 23566 7

Yes, I agree the M1 chip may be covered. I was inquiring about the M1 Power Pro Max.
I do not know if the JVM uses intel specific instructions.
It does use Windows, MacOS, linux, etc. instructions. Java does run on MacOS on the Intel architecture very well.
What they translate to, is beyond me. I am looking for confirmation by someone who has taken
the risk of actually buying a M1 Power Pro Max and using some flavor of Java.
I'm not willing to spend $4,000 to find out. I'm too cheap and poor!
I know it is not compatible with the Intel architecture but Apple has kludged some kind
of hardware work-around. I asked Apple. Maybe they will know, but nobody has responded.
Thank you for trying!!

As long as Java runtime does not use any Intel emulator instructions, it should run without issue under MacOS.
On the Apple-silicon M1, its code would be pre-translated by Rosetta into M1-code before execution, and cached while java is active.
There have been no pervasive reports of issues with java and Apple-Silicon M1 processors posted here. But a search for M1 on the oracle Java site yields NO results.
