JXTC Ganzhou FeW Smelter to Halt Operations

Asian Metal News

JXTC Ganzhou FeW Alloy, the largest FeW smelter in China is set to halt operations and carry out maintenance for a month starting from early May 2021. The company produced 380 t of FeW in April, and aims to resume operations in mid-June 2021.

According to an internal source, the company remained operational during the CNY holiday period thanks to sufficient orders. The company raised its FeW (80C) price to RMB155,000/t (ex-work by cash) this week from RMB 152,000/t a week ago. The contact is bullish about FeW prices going forward given the current situation of tightening spot supply and strong prices.

JXTC Ganzhou FeW Alloy is designed with 6 ktpy of FeW (75% min) per annum. It produced 350 t of FeW in March and 380 t in April 2021 and a total of 3.6 kt of FeW in 2020. Total output in the year to date was 1.4 kt. JXTC Ganzhou currently holds no stock.

Mainstream FeW (75% min) prices now stand at RMB163,000~166,000/t (ex-works by cash), up by RMB1,000/t from Monday.
