Boosting any of these engines will gain you the most power per dollar. Go for a built K20/K24 with a turbo #3 · Aug 29, 2017 Their is a shop down the street from my house that sells k24 full engines all day. Like I said in original post I'm just worried about putting power to ground and I'm afraid k20/K24 with turbo would be too much torque and spin all day #4 · Aug 30, 2017 The K20 will likely hook up better than the K24 when boosted... but don't let that necessarily steer you away from going bigger. Should let your "end-state" power goals determine that. A well set up suspension, with wider tires, as well as boost by gear and traction control are instrumental to using your setup to it's full potential. 0 Reply #5 · Aug 30, 2017 Also, definitely recommend turbo for our cars. Due to our drive by wire throttle body it's a lot more costly to run a set of individual throttle bodies so I'd count naturally aspirated out. Track: Boosted K20/K24>Boosted K24>Boosted K20>NA K20/K24>NA K24>NA K20 Street: Boosted K20>Boosted K20/K24>Boosted K24>NA K20/K24>NA K24>NA K20 These are by NO MEANS set in stone, and are general ratings. [My personal experience is a bolt on k20z3 inside my FA5, and I'm building a NA K20A2/K24A2 with a goal of 300 WHP. Decided to stay NA due to throttle response and just decided to build for it as a learning experience. Eventually planning to do an E30 with a turbo on it for my boost-fun.] Any NA k20/k24 questions feel free to message me, or go to the k20a forums, or 8thcivics or k20a facebook pages for more responses. #6 · Sep 1, 2017 So your saying that a boosted k20 will beat a boosted k20/k24. But the track the boosted k20/k24 will beat boosted k20? #7 · Sep 1, 2017 For whatever reason I can't seem to respond to your PM but it seems the PM and post are the same. "My line of reasoning is that a car at the track is LIKELY to have more traction, between stickier tires and a well prepped track. That makes it easier to hook, and use the higher power from the k20/k24. On the street, you're dealing with street tires and likely less than ideal driving surfaces. By having less torque down low in the rev range, you're more likely to have the car hook up and go. The k20 by virtue of less displacement will have less torque in most/all stages in the rev range of a similarly prepared higher displacement engine. These are the presumptions I've been operating off of. My direct time spent with cars hasn't confirmed or denied this as I've been focusing on the naturally aspirated side of the house. Sorry if that's only further muddying the waters..." Tried PM-ing that to you, but here we are. 0 Reply #8 · Sep 20, 2017 (Edited) If money isn't an issue, then the decision of K20/K24 block vs. gearing should be moot, as you can always change the gearing. You've gotta define your actual goals, and go from there. Within any given set of parameters, there is an ideal engineering compromise, and a way to get there by minimizing your resources spent. As much as anyone says "money is not an issue," if you are actually racing, it's nice to have extra $ in the tire budget. NA vs. FI is essentially a religious question. For DE / actual track work, I could make an argument for NA (see: Porsche 911 GT3 vs. Turbo), but if the goal is max HP, FI is always the way to go. In this day and age of the dying NA motor, where even Honda isn't doing them anymore -- my Honda will stay NA. #9 · Sep 26, 2017 I think I'm gonna go K20/K24 with wisco pistons at 11 to 1 na #10 · Sep 26, 2017 You'll be happy with the additional torque from having a larger displacement. Wonderful feeling. 0 Reply Insert Quotes Post Reply
