Follow us On Sunday the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) took suo-moto cognisance of information received about discrepancies such as damaged building of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Khuda Alisher, Chandigarh. Representative image By: Poviet KaurChandigarh: On Sunday the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) took suo-moto cognisance of information received about discrepancies such as damaged building of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Khuda Alisher, Chandigarh. An urgent meeting was called to discuss the issue. To ensure the safety and security of school children, the Commission has sent its recommendations to the secretary, education department, Chandigarh Administration, marking a copy to senior officers to take immediate measures to prevent untoward incidents. Recommendations include immediate shifting of students of GMSSS-Khuda Alisher from the damaged building to a safe one, immediate inspection of building by engineering department, immediate identification of old unsafe / dead trees and removal of wild grass on the school premises by the horticulture/ forest department, immediate renovation of the school building and provision of proper cleanliness, water and sanitation facility.HaryanaJammu & KashmirHaryana
JKNC LEADINGSource: PValueTalking to TOI, Harsuhinder Brar, director, education, Chandigarh said, “We have asked for a structural safety audit report from the chief engineer of the engineering department, which will be with us by Monday evening, after which we will take further action. We cannot declare any building unsafe without audit. Like others, I am also concerned about the safety of our kids and I will make sure they study in safe surroundings. The SDO has already visited the site on Friday and the school administration has closed rooms for classes where there are cracks.
