Vitamin K (or menaquinone 7, CAS: 2124-57-4), definition and usefulness:

Vitamin K (or menaquinone 7, CAS: 2124-57-4) is an essential nutrient for the body. This vitamin has the particularity of being soluble in fats and exists in two main forms: vitamin K1 and vitamin K2.

Vitamin K1, also known as phylloquinone or phytomedianone, is found mainly in green vegetables and vegetable oils. It is particularly involved in blood clotting.

Vitamin K2 (or menaquinone 7, CAS: 2124-57-4) is found in foods of animal origin and fermented foods. To a lesser extent, it is also synthesized in the body by the intestinal flora. Vitamin K2 participates in bone mineralization and helps prevent heart disease. Vitamin K2 food supplements are mainly available in the form of MK-4 and MK-7.

The level of toxicity of vitamins K1 and K2 is very low, even at high doses. The decree of 9 May 2006 confirms that vitamin K is one of the nutrients that can be used in the manufacture of food supplements.
