Looking to upgrade my monitor and thought i might as well ball out. My question is, in terms of colour accuracy, HDR, and overall display which one is better? I don't really care about the Hz or response time.

    Thanks all

Asus claims 1000nits (cd/m²) vs 400 for  the LG

LG claims HDR600, however... but it shouldn't be assumed that 1000cd/m² means HDR1000.

Both are IPS panels, so colour integrity 'should' be the same...

    EDIT:

What tasks would either panel be required to perform?

**I frequently edit any posts you may quote; please check for anything I 'may' have amended.**

Current PC spec. in my profile. Can I realistically call myself a gamer, if I only play ONE, twenty year old game...? Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

    WHY NOT...?!

tftcentral has both a PG27UQ review and 27GN950 but due to the time gap there is some difference in the tests.  rtings also has a 27GN-950 review.

    https://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/asus_rog_swift_pg27uq.htm#specs

    https://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/lg_27gn950.htm#specs

The PG27UQ has atleast one big advantage over the GN950. It has FALD. The GN950 has a dogsh*t edge lit local dimming implementation whilst the 27UQ has a 387 zone FALD implementation.

Now that being said the PG27UQ from what i can tell has does have an issue. it does not have DSC from what i can tell, meaning it cant do 10 bit 4:4:4 144hz.

    It maxes out at 98hz 10bit 4:4:4.

To go any higher u need to drop down to 8 bit or use chroma subsampling.

It can do 144hz 10bit ..but at 4:2:2.

But again the Asus has another leg up on the LG. It has higher peak brightness thanks to its FALD feature, tested up to 1200nits, while the LG peaked at 750nits.

All in all, the Asus is the better display IMO, BUT comes with the some Gen 1 kinks namely the lack of DSC.

You should spend the time to read through the reviews.

if u have the money for one of these i think u should also consider, if u have the space, a 48" Lg OLED, so long as u have a modern GPu with HDMi 2.1, u can get 4k 120hz from it. ofc ull have make some minor habitual changes to ur usage of the display so as to avoid burn-in ..but would be worth it imo.

i have both panels (x27 instead of the 27uq). Color accuracy the 27uq should be better out of the box, the gn950 hdr isnt really usable, the colors on the 27uq is better overall. The fan on the 27uq is a risk though.

But if you don't care about the refresh rate and just color and hdr, then proart monitors might be better

I do video editing as a for fun job, but i am mainly a design architect. I mainly want the monitor for my job but pleading guilty, I have a great and deep appreciation for story driven games; i appreciate the colours and the scenes they give. I play games in my free time and wanted the max enjoyment I can get. I don't really care about extreme refresh rates, correct me if i'm wrong 60Hz would do.
