For the eighth week in a row, The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s collaborative single “Stay” rules the Billboard Global 200, though it faced some actual competition this time around. The two pop stars keep their control over Billboard’s weekly ranking of the most-consumed songs in the world, with the top entrant this time around, Lisa’s “Lalisa” missing the highest spot by just one rung.

While she might not have captured the throne on the worldwide chart, Lisa does make history simply by appearing inside the top 10. As “Lalisa” debuts at No. 2, Lisa becomes the fourth musical act of any kind from South Korea to break into the top 10 on the Billboard Global 200, which just recently turned one year old.

Looking at all South Korean musical acts, BTS leads the way on the worldwide ranking, no matter how one chooses to examine the data. The seven-member vocal band claims the most No. 1 hits on the Billboard Global 200 among all artists, with the following five singles all having spent time in charge: “Dynamite,” "Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)" with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo, “Life Goes On,” “Butter” and “Permission to Dance.” They have also sent two additional tunes—“Film Out” (No. 5) and “Blue & Grey” (No. 9)—into the loftiest space, accruing one of the greatest counts of top 10s. They have also earned the third-most weeks at No. 1, and they will likely improve their sums at some point soon.

Blackpink is the only other South Korean act of any kind to chart more than a single top 10 on the Billboard Global 200. The girl group, which has now seen two of its members reach the area as well (more on that in the next paragraph), has now pushed two cuts into the highest tier on the tally, with “Lovesick Girls” stalling at No. 2 while “Ice Cream” with Selena Gomez peaked at No. 8.

Both Lisa and Rosé, bandmates in Blackpink, have also found themselves inside the top 10 on the Billboard Global 200 with one hit apiece. A few months ago, Rosé debuted her first single as a solo star, “On The Ground,” at No. 1. In doing so, she became the first solo musician from South Korea to rule the ranking. Lisa nearly matches her success this frame, as “Lalisa” opens at No. 2.

Plenty of other South Korean musicians have scored big hits on the Billboard Global 200 chart, such as Twice, Izty, Pinkfong, Exo, Aespa and IU, to name just a few, but none of them have reached the top 10...at least not yet.
