Location Of G28 Crankshaft Or Speed Sensor On Golf 4, 2002, 1.6 FSI

dboyr D Hi, Does anyone know where G28 crankshaft sensor (engine speed sensor) on a Golf 4, 1.6 FSi, 2002, petrol? From what I read on the net, the sensor should be next to the gear box on the right side of the engine. I looked in front of the engine on the right side, up and down and could not find it. In the back, I have the speed sensor for the dashboard, but this is mounted on the gear box. I can't find the G28 sensor. Any ideas where it is? In front -right of the engine, i have 2 sensors (one for the cooling liquid and one for pressure). On top, I have a sensor for oil. I can't find any other sensors on the right front side of the engine. Thanks Daniel ​ Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Jun 23, 2013 Mine was under the oil filter. #3 · Jun 23, 2013 On the 1.6 16 valve BAD code engine it is around the back of the engine, under the inlet manifold, pointing at the mag ring which is part of the rear crankshaft oil seal holder. On these engines they are very difficult to change as the usual procedure on EA111 engines is to remove the inlet manifold but EA111 FSI inlet manifold removal has a number of pitfalls.
