Logitech C922 Vs C920: Which Webcam Is Better?

For the last few years, the Logitech C920 has become the most common webcam around. The video quality thrown out from this thing is just incredible. Lot of video creators have been using Logitech C920 webcam to create video content over using an actual camera . The new C922 camera, an improvement from the C920, has now been released by Logitech. It has some cool new features, but is the upgrade worth it? We’ll take a look at both webcams in this post, and I’ll run through what you need to know if you’re considering purchasing or upgrading.

Logitech C922 vs C920: DESIGN

There’s not much of a visual difference between the two when you see the cameras side by side. They have actually replaced the blue lights on the front of the C920 with dimmer yellow lights. The only difference I have found is that on the C922 the “Logitech” logo is actually much larger now.

Both of these cameras have a fantastic hinged mounting system, which means you can mount it in a variety of ways. You can directly mount both the cameras to the tripod because of standard tripod thread in the bottom.

Both of these cameras will do 1080P at 30 frames per second, and 720P at 30 frames per second, but the new C922 also supports 60 frames per second at 720P, which is really designed for gamers and for livestreaming while gaming.

Logitech does really well with its webcams is to deliver you a great image straight after plugging the camera in, and it’s no different with these two. Overall, the image quality on both of them is fantastic.

Logitech C922 vs C920: FEATURES

Using applications like Skype at 1080P, the Logitech C920 will not let you make calls. They’ll be limited to 720P, on a Mac at least. However, with the Logitech C920 at 1080P, you can actually make calls on the PC with Skype. Whereas, using programmes like Skype, the C922 will allow you to make video calls at 1080P on both Mac and PC.

Background removal is the other new feature that comes with the Logitech C922, and it uses software called Personify. Unfortunately, this is for Windows only.

The Logitech C922, in its 60 frames per second 720P mode, does look pretty good. It has lost quite a bit of detail and its a softer image, but the 60 frames per second works as it should and pushes through a much smoother video image.

WHICH ONE SHOULD YOU GET?

If you want 60 frames per second at 720P, then go with the C922. The main advantage of C922 is the 1080P video calling. So you can you do 1080p video calling in programs like Skype. It is also slightly faster and more accurate autofocus. If you’re just looking for a decent camera to record 1080P 30 frames per second videos directly into your computer, then C920 is better choice.
