bimmerSeng B I recently moved from the 3-series to a 2013 X3 35i with 103K km on it. Right after an oil change, I got 2 warnings: Low oil pressure and drivetrain malfunction with engine power reduced. I used the AmsOil 5W30 Euro spec, so I thought it could be the oil, so next day I dumped it out and replaced it with fresh oil & filter from the dealer. Cleared the error codes, drives fine on low speeds up to 50km/hr, as soon as I speed up to 100km/hr I get the low oil pressure. Drove back to the shop, replaced the oil pressure sender/sensor, codes cleared, same issue as soon as it hits 100 the low oil pressure warning comes up (but no drivetrain malfunction). Went back to do an oil pressure test, at idle it was about 45/46, when revving the pressure goes up to 195 at 4,500 RPM, couple rev's proved that the pressure responded fine. Errors codes I got were 1C0102 and 1C2002. So far it has been going on and off randomly. I wonder what should I be digging for? All my previous 3series were running like a charm with no engine/oil issues at all. Thanks for the help! #1 · Oct 31, 2015 I recently moved from the 3-series to a 2013 X3 35i with 103K km on it. Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Feb 17, 2020 engine oil pressure low code 1C0102 hi I got my oil changed at a quickie place and after about 100miles I got code 1c0102 ….I could not check the oil level because the e-dip stick would fail at about 17%. After towing home,,I checked for leakes and loose stuff but found nothing. I put in a quart and started again but the code was gone, still couldn't get a oil level reading though. When I pulled the filter,,I saw that the tube usually in the center of the housing cap (the one that gets the green small o-ring) was GONE !! It must have been stuck in the oil filter cartridge and been thrown out. Im pretty sure this is the culprit,, but I will get replacement tomorrow and see. If anyone is interested ,,I will post a follow up.I have seen a lot of posts about this code after oil changes and thought it could maybe help... Its a 2013 328i msport with the n20 sulev engine ,,but I know they use this filter housing on several engines......Now I just have to hope that the oil starvation it caused wasn't going on too long before it flashed the code. Needless to say ...I am PISSED at these dumbass kids working at the lube place and myself as well. I go to the quickie place every other oil change ,,alternating between dealer.I think I will start doing my own...this was a close call. #3 · Mar 10, 2020 Lesson learned! #4 · Mar 10, 2020 Not just quicky places, though I made the mistake 20 years ago of getting a transmission fluid replacement at one (not for BMW) and when I got home it leaked out in garage. But even BMW dealerships mess up. Got a coolant change a couple years ago (small leak, didn't resolve it, but they forgot to put the coolant cap back on). Or the times they didn't have the engine air filter in stock (I'm out of "free" maintenance, so I replace myself now). #5 · May 23, 2020

/ This might be a sign that you have a defective timing chain guide that have pieces of plastic shavings that is blocking the oil pump from getting oil to the engine. I would recommend for you to take your suv to BMW service dept for a for a timing chain/guide inspection. I had the oil pressure low and then followed by drivetrain malfunction and now my suv have a dead engine(2013 x3 with 75k miles). Hopefully it's something minor. Best of luck. #6 · May 23, 2020 Good advice, but you know the OP started this thread over 4 years ago, so that boat has sailed :) 0 Reply #7 · Jul 5, 2024 Hey i git annoil change at a quickie place today and i had the same issuse come up otw home. I limped back to the shop and had them redo the filter apparently similar to the green tube being pulled out with the filter my filters oring in the middle shaft cane apart from said filter. Was goving me the same code 1c0102 hopefully the new filter with proper orings will do the trick. Careful who you trust with ya car folks🖤 Insert Quotes Post Reply
