Có phải chính là chúng ta không ? Chúng ta đang tự quyết định phong cách và thương hiệu cá nhân của mình ư ? Victoria’s beautiful writing style transfers from her blog to this book with ease, and I felt like I was wrapped in a warm blanket while reading it. If you are not in the blogging/fashion industry, I think you’ll learn a lot from this. However, I’ve knocked a star off this as I knew about most, if not all of the points she covered and I like to come away learning a lot from non-fiction books. A fab light read that is more substantial than your average coffee table book 💙Olivia Pal4 reviewsFollowFollowJanuary 5, 2020I love Victoria and generally find her very inspirational. The book is very nicely designed. It includes some interesting stories and facts on the fashion industry, however as someone who keeps up-to-date with trends and follows the fashion world, it didn’t feel like I was reading or learning anything ‘new’.Profile Image for Ami.Ami111 reviews1 followerFollowFollowFebruary 9, 2019Stunning illustrations and cover really nice easy to read coffee table book. Looks at the many aspects of the fashion and luxury fashion market. Showing it's growth within web marketing in the last 20 years. Reads much like a university dissertation really well written Magrath wording and knowledge on this subject is so strong. Fanatics book must read for anyone into fashion, social media and web market. Profile Image for Ania.Ania84 reviews8 followersFollowFollowJune 17, 2024I found out about this book from Victoria's YouTube channel and was interested in her take on how fashion has changed in the digital age. The book is decently edited (aside from the excessive hyphenation) and well written enough to have kept my interest. I like these kinds of books that have a sort of gimmicky way of presenting history because it's far more interesting than the traditional presentation. It's a nice quick afternoon read and I learned quite a bit like that about a quarter of all purchases are now made online and ASOS was originally an 'as seen on screen' brand. I definitely have a passion for fashion having sketched 100 outfits over the years. I already know I couldn't make a career out of it for myself though, so some of the fashion history in here was also cool. However, if you are reasonably versed in fashion you will probably already know about most of it, apart from maybe some new brand mentions, and there are some outdated myths in here that make me roll my eyes because I see them all the time like that designer automatically means more ethical, longer-lasting or better quality or that it's where all ideas for all clothing come from rather than fashion being cyclical not only in terms of repetitiveness but in terms of being inspired from all stations in life, that fur is so horrible but leather (which is a million times worse) is totally not even mentioned as wrong and that apparently size 12 or higher is 'plus size' when it is actually the size of many (usually taller) people who have a completely normal weight according to their BMI. For the organization, comprehensiveness and style of this book I give it 5 stars but because the info is not quite new 4 it is.laura_audrey20 reviewsFollowFollowAugust 31, 2021trước hết mình đánh giá cực cao về mặt hình thức và chất lượng giấy in của cuốn sách - cách bài trí con chữ sáng sủa, dễ nhìn dễ đọc; cách phối các gam màu sắc thật hài hòa, sinh động và đặc biệt là các bức ảnh minh họa đính kèm, những tấm hình đã trải qua khâu lựa chọn kĩ lưỡng và được căn chỉnh vào những góc ưu ái nhất của từng trang sách; cuối cùng là những trang giấy dày dặn với chất lượng cực tốt - tất cả những điều này đem lại cảm giác hệt như đang đọc một cuốn tạp chí chuyên ngành vậy, nhất là nhìn vào series ảnh như một show diễn thời trang thực thụ, dễ chịu và mê mẩn cực kì.cách viết của Vic cũng thật sự lôi cuốn, nó mang đến cho những người không có quá nhiều kiến thức về thời trang một cái nhìn tổng quát về cách mà ngành công nghiệp này vận hành trong thời đại 4.0 và cách mà kỷ nguyên số đã hoàn toàn thay đổi các quy trình của nó. theo như mình thấy thì nội dung chủ yếu là liên quan đến mảng marketing và sự gắn kết mật thiết của thời trang với công nghệ hiện đại và mạng xã hội, các mục được sắp xếp chặt chẽ, logic và khá dễ hiểu cho những người mới vẫn còn lạ lẫm với nhiều khái niệm. mặc dù với giới chuyên môn có nhiều năm kinh nghiệm trong nghề, cuốn sách không phải là một thứ gì đó đột phá và mới lạ, tuy nhiên mình tin rằng vẫn sẽ có những góc nhìn khá thú vị cho ta chiêm nghiệm thêm khi đang nhâm nhi một tách cà phê.nhưng phải nói thật là sách xinh lắm cả nhà ạ, thỉnh thoảng mình lại mở ra lật lật xem từng bức ảnh, eo ơi chị Vic xinh thực sự luôn ^^Profile Image for Willow Rankin.Willow Rankin447 reviews3 followersFollowFollowFebruary 7, 2021Ah, a blogger has written a book, is it worth the time and money to read; well as blogger books go Victoria clearly knows her subject, and is exceedingly passionate about it. The photography included is beautiful, much like her Instagram feed, and whilst this book does look at the effect of the internet on marketing, fashion and style, I did expect this book to be more about style rules, rather than creating a blog and building a following. I knocked up a star, as the content for each chapter followed the same repetitive structure, and featured a list of additional resources (stores/models/other youtubers) to review. However, this was a light read, and makes the perfect coffee table book. Profile Image for Leigh Ann.Leigh Ann5 reviews1 followerFollowFollowJune 20, 2021I finally, FINALLY, got around to reading Victoria’s book after it’s sat (in a place of honor) on my shelf throughout the three years it’s been since it’s release. As someone who just graduated with their own fashion degree, The New Fashion Rules was a lovely review of the things I’ve learned throughout my time at school. But Vic was also sure to throw in ideas and concepts that were never touched on in the classroom. This book is great for any fashion students (or post grads) and really anyone who has a slight interest in how the fashion industry works in modern times. And through a few things have changed after the book’s release (fashion moves quickly people) the bones of the book and Vic’s insightful commentary doesn’t date. As always, InTheFrow delivered killer content! Profile Image for Mónica.Mónica52 reviews8 followersFollowFollowFebruary 27, 2022I’ve followed Vic and her work for a long time before I picked up and began to read her book. It took me a long time to finish it because I’m not always in the mood to read but mostly because I thought about each chapter and researched for new developments on the topics she wrote about. The pandemic times we’ve lived through the last couple of years have definitely given me time to be interested in the fashion world and since I’ve finished university and began working on my job I’ve started to discover my own style. This book and the topics Vic wrote about were a huge help and definitely helped me discover some amazing ladies in fashion who have become an inspiration for me. Now, is it too soon to ask for a new and updated book?Profile Image for Leticia.Leticia67 reviews1 followerFollowFollowMay 28, 20203.5 or maybe not? I have watched Victoria for years now, I love her so I was really excited about this book as it’s classic Victoria and a topic right up my alley. It’s an easy read, feels pretty personal with all the usage of personal pronouns and not as much as a third person outlook as I thought it would be. Would make a great coffee table book but I read it as an ebook. Might get the physical copy just for those lovely images. I don’t expect much of Youtuber/blogger books as they have disappointed me in the past but Victoria’s is pretty darn good. Profile Image for Fabulitas.Fabulitas108 reviews10 followersFollowFollowMarch 3, 2019If you want to learn about the fashion industry in the age of Instagram and YouTube, this book is a good place to start. It's infomative and written in clear and succinct style, it doesn't wax poetic too much, and it doesn't ignore the mutitude of issues connected to the fashion industry in our capitalist world (even if the author doesn't word it exactly like that - hey, it's supposed to be a fun coffee table book). Profile Image for Stefanie.Stefanie1,695 reviews23 followersFollowFollowMarch 27, 2020I wanted to love this, except I didn’t. I’m keeping up with all the Influencer books I’ve purchased over the years. I love her blog but I found too much of the book was about all the luxury brands. I knew they’d pop up, but when I think about Fashion Rules I thought it would be, well different than what this book was. I didn’t hate it but I’m not sure really. Just feeling super indifferent about it honestly.

Profile Image for Abi Rose .Abi Rose 6 reviewsFollowFollowMarch 8, 2023It was a good read, felt like reading a blog. It was a nice timeline of different events that shaped the fashion industry which was amazing, and some events she had shown from the view of a blogger. Loved the discussion about how the digital age has impacted the industry also. Has a few good tips in how to break into the digital space yourself, i just hoped it be more in depth with these. Decent book, easy read.Profile Image for Trâm Trần.Trâm Trần64 reviewsFollowFollowJune 12, 2021An average book.I’ve been reading many books about fashion and this book is definitely not a good one. I don’t say it’s terrible to read but not a highly recommended for who wants to have a deeper look into fashion world. However, the author gives me some interesting angles abt fashion.Appropriate to read when relaxing.Alice2 reviewsFollowFollowSeptember 26, 2021If you’re interested in the fashion worlds evolution into the modern era then this is the book for you. It was an interesting and easy read which included beautiful imagery. I definitely learned a few things, although admittedly some of the advice on blogging etc was a little basic. Overall the book seems well researched and shows Victoria’s knowledge and passion for the fashion industryProfile Image for Claire Mottot Le Querré.Claire Mottot Le Querré39 reviewsFollowFollowDecember 12, 2021I put 3 stars for the research, the illustration and clearly the knowledge of luxury world. But I am disappointed as I was expecting more of her career path in this book. It feels like I was reading the document she wrote to get her phD. Once again it's only my fault I didn't like it that much. Should have done more research before I purchased it.Profile Image for Ana Grau.Ana Grau132 reviews10 followersFollowFollowJanuary 16, 2019I found this book very interesting. It covers the most important topics that are going on in the industry right now. It's a book I will recommend to someone that wants to know more about the fashion world and its direction. Profile Image for Chris.Chris20 reviews2 followersFollowFollowJanuary 3, 2021Stunning book, easy to read and surprisingly, with a lot of grabables to later apply. Been following Victoria for quite a while and the book seem like a very honest representation of her and her work Profile Image for Bayan.Bayan58 reviews19 followersFollowFollowSeptember 2, 2021It isn’t the worst thing I’ve ever read but there were no “rules” or tips as the title promises, at least not the way I saw it. It felt more like a promo for already well-known brands and already famous people.

Overall, if you want something easy to read about fashion and are okay that the book won’t be entirely relevant in the current times- go for it.
