before you all tell me its impossible etc

what if i had the gti front wings/arches and the upper and lower bumpers!

wouldn't it all piece together fine?

i know the gti bumpers are flared to fit gti's not standard 1.0,1.4's etc but with gti arches surely it should fit?

let me know guys cheers!

The GTI's sills are extended to meet up with the front wings at the bottom, where as the normal Lupo's arch goes to the bottom of the sill. I think you also need other bits and pieces such as the slam panel etc to make it all fit properly.

It would fit, but you'd need xenons, GTI sidelights, and washers.

The wings will no longer be flush with the rest of the body, and you'd need something on the sills to sort that out.

The front end will bolt on no problem.

But it wont line up to the sills, so you'll need GTI sills.

But these are attached to the quarter panels so, and they are a different shape also so you'll need the rear bumper as well.

Lot of work, but a cool conversion.

Main problem is the sills the GTI wings will not line up. Of cause it can be done but not without some

work. it would probably be less work to change the bumper to fit standard wings or slight modified standard wings.

Its never going to look like a GTI unless you go whole hog so you may as well make it something unique and not trying to be a

GTI look alike but GTI inspired.

People on here will always tell you not to do it because a lookalike is just shabby but something thats a bit of a hybrid

will capture peoples attention more, To be honets the GTI one piece bumper is a much better design its much cleaner

so if it was done well to look understated on the car then why not go for it i say!

Just dont make the car look like something its not, no one is going to be fooled by a 1.0L that looks like a GTI

edit: got in there a bit late on this one

thanks for all the advice guys! helps alot!

i had already planned on getting the rear gti bumper when i get my new exhaust system from jetex!

so i think im gonna do the whole hog and do a complete conversion!

its something i've wanted to do for a while and i reckon it'd be a pretty cool mod!

anyone have any idea on pricing new from vw?

also it would be cool if you could point me in the direction of second hand parts :)

you can get it done, as i, myself like the GTI front and back bumpers, but i was told you'd need a new boot and a bonnet as well

You won't need a new boot or bonnet, as they are the same shape on both Lupo's, but the obviously the bonnet is aluminium on the GTI.

I can understand if you want to do it for the "built not baught"/bumming/scene points you'll recieve/for ****sNgiggles, but the amount of time you'll spend on it plus all that moolah, wouldnt you rather just buy a GTi and spend money turning that into something nicer?!

just my 2p as ive feen a few threads on this now :)

im 17, first year of driving, i'm probably gonna have this car for a while and theres no way i could get insured on a gti!

so my theory is! convert a 1.0 into a gti and miss out the insurance costs! :)

and i just love big projects!

its a similar kit and a lot less, pointless (IMO) work! itl never look like a gti to people that know, if you think you will have to flare the arches, and even then they will not look the same! i say save time and money and go rieger for body mods, if thats the look the look you are after.

i understand that that probably isn't possible, i couldnt afford a GTi at the moment, but as said above, it does seem a little pointless!

please tell me if im being out of line. im just trying to save you some time and money.

I said about the Reiger kit before instead of a GTi conversion and got told to "Go **** myself"

Same for me if im speaking out of line, but there are much better things you could spend your hard earned and time on IMO :)

The Rieger kit is the way to go if you do't want to have to fanny about fitting GTI bumpers. It is easily the only kit that looks similar to the GTI, i've mentioned it a few times in the past on previous posts too.

the idea is great mate, and ive considered that alternative before, its just to me its not the same look and feel. i understand its probably gonna cost a hell of a lot of money to do the gti conversion but i reckon it'll be worth it!

i dont really like reiger kits tbh, no offence to anyone, just my personal opinion..

i think in white the conversion could look really sweet! and i'd love to be the first (or one of the first, i dunno) to do this conversion!

oh, and nahh your not being out of line at all mate, im always up for hearing good advice like that! just ashame im not really into reiger stuff tbh!

does anyone know anyone who's selling any gti parts at the moment? or anywhere i could purchase some from?

So you're doing the full conversion?

Bumpers, wings, sills, rear quarters, lights, custom exhaust, slam panel and anything else that I've forgotten?

It's going to be very expensive.

GTI parts don't come up for sale very often.

Go to a VW dealers and price up all the parts listed and let us know how much it comes to. Then of course it all needs fitting, and replacing rear quarters isn't exactly an easy job. After that there's a full respray which would cost well over £1000 for a decent job.

Have a look about in readers rides, after you've seen some of the non-GTI Lupo's in there you won't want to convert to a GTI. ;)

Lower it, smooth the bumpers and it'll be mint.
