It’s all about Voodoo Bandits this week.

Having released their debut single ’Sink Below’ in March 2019 and then followed this up with ’Ride The Wave’, the band has now released their third single.

Entitled ’Empty Swimming Pool’, it’s due for release tomorrow (Friday) across all major music platforms.

Featuring a line-up made up by Ben Donaldson on guitar and vocals, Corey Vaughan on guitar, Charlotte Wilby on bass and Nathan Vaughan on drums, these guys and girl are all about everything indie with a dash of pop thrown in.

Think Circa Waves and a little bit of The Strokes and you’re very much in the right ball park.

’Empty Swimming Pool’ has all the ingredients of a classic indie pop anthem and, by rights, should be sung to crowds of sun-drenched festival goers up and down the country.

’I was creating many fast-paced indie roller coasters in December 2019, and this one just stood out to us,’ said singer and songwriter Ben.

’It had a real uplifting feel and groove. We quickly added it to our set before our England debut that same week, and it has served us well as an attention-grabbing set opener since.

’I wrote the lyrics with my dog, which is probably why they don’t make too much sense, but we both love the counter culture; and that is what this song is about. But, if that’s not for you, alternatively it is about the blurry outcome of our decisions with symbolic imagery.’

The single has already attracted attention from a couple of music publications, with Atwood Magazine saying: ’Sometimes a song hits you and you just know it’s a hit - and when it comes to a band like Voodoo Bandits, the future feels written in the stars: These four are going places.’

Indie Central Music said: ’Since the release of their debut single not even 12 months ago, Isle of Man quartet Voodoo Bandits have hit the ground running to becoming a band you need to keep an eye on.’

The band is due to head out for some gigs over the course of the next few weeks, both on and off-island and will be appearing at Zanzibar, Liverpool, on March 28, as support for LOLA, followed by a night at the Cooil Bar, Ramsey on April 4, heading up a multi-band night with A Stone’s Throw, the Tides and Poster Girl in support.

They head back across the water to the Head of Steam, in Newcastle to support Bedroom Boredom on April 11, before their big night playing at the Villa Marina as support to The Lightning Seeds on May 16.

That just leaves an appearance at the Dot 2 Dot Festival, Manchester on May 22.
