MCNV is an international network organisation working on health development, social inclusion, livelihood, climate change and value chains. MCNV works from offices in Vietnam, Lao PDR and The Netherlands. All activities of MCNV aim at sustainable improvement of the situation of disadvantaged groups in society. We focused on supporting the poor, people facing discrimination, the disabled, the poor, women and girls and ethnic minorities applying community based and participatory approaches.

  🍊🍐HOLLAND - VIETNAM: GROWING A GREENER & FRUITFUL FUTURE 📚 On November 15th, the 'Vietnam Fruit Quality Improvement' project funded by the Dutch government through MCNV concluded with a workshop held in Hanoi, bringing together over 60 delegates. 💡 Ms. Ingrid Korving, Agricultural Counsellor at the Dutch Embassy, highlighted the project's significant contribution to Vietnam's fruit industry, marking the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam - Netherlands Strategic Partnership Agreement on Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security. 💡 MCNV Vietnam Chief of Representative Office, Mr.Pham Dung, emphasized the project's success as a testament to the strong commitment of both Vietnam and the Netherlands to sustainable agriculture. He expressed MCNV's willingness to continue supporting farmers in developing similar agricultural models in the future 🖌 KEY ACHIEVEMENTS: 🎗 Developing 5 pilot models to improve irrigation, fertilizer use, pesticide application, and soil testing. 🎗 Providing training for over 2,000 individuals – from farmers to agricultural officials – in advanced agricultural practices. 🎗 Doubling mango yields in Dong Thap while reducing fertilizer use by 30% and meeting stringent European quality standards. 📚The Vietnam Tropical Fruit Quality Improvement Project is financially sponsored by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.   MCNV takes part in 8th Asia-Pacific Occupational Therapy Congress MCNV Vietnam Chief of Representative Office, Mr. Pham Dung (MPH, MSc) and Mr. Nguyen Khac Tuan (MOT) - President of the Vietnam Occupational Therapy (OT) Network attended the 8th Asia-Pacific OT Congress 2024 held from November 6-8th, 2024 in Sapporo, Japan. Notably, three Vietnamese OT experts shared their valuable insights through online presentations: -Establishment of a Professional Association: OT networking in Vietnam (by Mr.Pham Ngoc Dat (MOT), Lecturer, University of Medicine and Pharmacy at HCMC). -OT community program to optimize learning experience of children in special schools (by Ms.Nguyen Huynh Ngoc Mai Tram (MOT), Lecturer, University of Medicine and Pharmacy at HCMC). -Occupation-based intervention in group settings to improve quality of life for post-stroke survivors (by Mr.Trinh Hieu Liem, An Binh Hospital, HCMC).   Are you already familiar with all 17 organisation participants of DCDD? 🌍 Get to know MCNV - For health and development in South East Asia!  The Medical Committee Netherlands-Vietnam (MCNV) was founded in 1968 by Dutch doctors to provide medical aid to Vietnam during the war, driven by outrage over the suffering caused by American warfare. Initially, MCNV sent medical supplies, and by 1977, they had built the Holland Hospital in Quang Tri province. After the war, MCNV focused on battling diseases like tuberculosis and malaria, developing effective treatments still used worldwide. Over time, the organisation expanded its efforts to improve healthcare access, economic development, and education in remote areas of Vietnam and Laos, supported by donors and international partners. MCNV works in partnerships, following priorities set through 5-year strategic plans. Current strategic priorities (2021-2025) include: 🍎 Health & Nutrition ♿ Quality services for persons with disabilities and the elderly 🌍 Climate change adaptation interventions 💼 Livelihoods improvement Interested to learn more about them?   FESTIVAL FOR PEACE KICK STARTED IN QUANG TRI Under the inspiring theme "Joining Hands to Create a Peaceful World," the 2024 Festival for Peace gracefully commenced on the evening of July 6th, 2024, on the southern bank of the Hien Luong-Ben Hai Special National Historical Site in Quang Tri province. MCNV feels immensely honored to have been a part of Quang Tri's journey, contributing to its development and witnessing its impressive growth. Once a land scarred by the ravages of war, Quang Tri has emerged triumphantly from the ashes. It now stands as a beacon of peace and reconciliation, a testament to resilience, and a hub brimming with opportunities for collaboration with both domestic and international partners. We hope that the Festival will foster the spread of positive humanitarian and cultural values and creating new bridges of connection between Quang Tri province and numerous domestic and international partners!
