Possibly extra oil cooling too? #3 · Feb 28, 2020 Lighter flywheel? 1m flywheel supposed to be lighter then 135i item.. #4 · Feb 28, 2020 https://www.bmwblog.com/2016/07/28/bmw-made-n55-even-better-m2/ #5 · Feb 28, 2020

That blog seems to imply that a 135i isn't suitable for heavy track use, as it's liners could possibly fail. It's quite clearly implying that BMW consider the spray on liners in the 135i N55 engine as a risk for track use, and that they don't expect buyers of 135i to be tracking regularly and for prolonged use. Hence the major liner upgrade for the N55 in the M2, which they clearly see as a car that they expect owners to track. Click to expand...
Has anyone had liner problems from track use on a 135i N55 or is it a bit engineering overkill for the M car? #6 · Feb 28, 2020

I don't know about the difference between spray on liners and what's in the m2, but if they're anything like the nikasil liners in the old 328i sport, then their fears are well founded. Insert Quotes Post Reply
