Following the actor's reaction, a host of other Bollywood celebrities raised voice against the inflated electricity bills on Monday. Actors Renuka Shahane, Huma Qureshi, Amyra Dastur Dino Morea, Kamya Punjabi, and Vir Das have posted complaints similar to that of Tapsee Pannu

These celebs took to social media to complain about the inflated electricity bills they have received for the month of June amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

But the complaints about exorbitant electricity bills have not come from Bollywood celebrities only. Regular Mumbaikars have also raised their voice against the problem.

Taking cognisance of the complaints from numerous consumers including Bollywood celebs, the Mumbai electricity board has reportedly issued a clarification about the 'insane' electricity bills.

"Actual consumption in the months of April, May, and June is comparatively higher due to seasonal impact (summer) and increased usage (the advent of Lockdown/WFH)," a spokesperson of the electricity board was quoted as saying.

Going by social media posts, the issue of inflated bills is not just limited to Mumbai. Many Delhiites have also expressed their concerns.
