Both officers and enlisted military members with flight-related duties receive forms of aviation incentive pay, or "flight pay."

Flight Pay Overview

"Flight pay" is a generic name for special or incentive compensation paid to those who perform various military flight-related duties. The following are types of flight pay available to military service members.

  • Aviation Career Incentive Pay for Officers
  • Critical Skills Pay
  • Aviation Continuation Pay
  • Career Enlisted Flyer Incentive Pay
  • Hazardous Duty Incentive Pay

Although Congress determines the actual payment amounts, each individual service's regulations and policies dictate eligibility and qualifications for these special aviation incentives. Be sure to contact your local personnel or pay office for any questions or concerns you may have about eligibility or application process.
