MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION APPOINTMENTS
You will be able to schedule an in-person appointment up to two weeks in advance. These appointments are for the services listed below:
- Registration and title transfers of newly purchased vehicles.
- New residents who have moved to Nashua from another State.
- New residents who have moved to Nashua from another town or city in New Hampshire.
- OR any service that can't be completed online.

When you arrive for your appointment, simply check in at the kiosk and enter your confirmation code you received in the appointment confirmation email.

We strongly encourage all renewals be done on-line or by mail. Walk-in services are available. Please be advised that there may be lines and longer wait times for Walk-in service.

2. ____ Driver’s License (Must be a New Hampshire ID if you have been a resident for 60 days or more)
3. ____ The Original Title, Certificate of Origin (if your vehicle is not financed or leased) or NH Title Application
4. ____ Current out of State Registration
5. ____ Bill Of Sale (If Financed) listing the following information:
A ____ Seller/Dealer Information (where you originally purchased)
B ____ Lien Holder Information
C ____ Date of Sale
D ____ Mileage of Vehicle at time of sale
Registration and title transfers of newlypurchased vehicles.You must have:
1. ____ The Original Title, Certificate of Origin or NH Title Application.
2. ____ The original registration of your prior vehicle if you have plates that you want to transfer. If you do not have your prior registration, we can produce a duplicate for $18.00
3. ____ Your bill of sale or purchase contract (if financing this information must be included).
4. ____ Your NH driver’s license.
New residents who have moved to Nashua from another town or city of NH
You must have:
1. ____ A completed Record change form (DSMV-30)
2. ____ Proof of Address (Most recent Utility Bill, Lease Agreement with a lease start date within 30 days, or a recent piece of mail with a post mark stamp within the last 30 days)
3. ____ NH Driver’s License
4. ____ Your current registration

Online – Mail-in
Renewal of a car registration:
Renewals can be made in one of two ways: (1) online via our website portal (https://www.nashuanh.gov/paybills); (2) via mail - Checks or Money Orders Only. If a resident can’t process a renewal online they should email us at ([email protected]). If you changed your address within Nashua recently you may need to fill out a Record change form parts 1 and 2 and provide proper proof of residency.
Record change form (DSMV-30)Note: If you haven’t renewed the vehicle for a full year you will not be able to renew it on-line.
Temporary Plates:
If you purchased a vehicle through a private sale or an out of state dealer and want a 20 day temporary plate you will need to call 227-4000 (State DMV). The temporary plates will be issued by one of the NH DMV substations, not City Hall.
Boat Registrations
Boat Registration: for new boats.
Renewal of boats can be done by the State with the form you received in the mail or by the city with an additional $5.00 fee. (Renewal of Boats can’t be done on-line)
Items Needed For New Boats:
- Detailed Bill of Sale
- NH License or current (out of State) License
The bill of sale should include
- Model Year
- Make
- Fuel Type
- Horsepower
- Inboard/Outboard designation
- Single or Twin Engine
- Length
- Color
- Hull Identification Number (1973 & newer must be 12 digits)
- Hull material
- If previously registered in NH, you MUST provide the NH Bow Number originally assigned to the boat
Parking Fines:
Outstanding Tickets can cause delays in obtaining your registration

Municipal Agent
The City of Nashua is a Municipal Agent for the State of New Hampshire. This enables our department to complete most transactions in one location for the convenience of our residents.
Registration Signature
The owner of a registered vehicle must sign the bottom of the registration (State of New Hampshire RSA 641:3)
Tax Deductible Fees
The City's municipal fees for MOS/MILLS on your vehicle registration are the only portions that are tax deductible on Internal Revenue Service Schedules A and B on Form 1040. These line items are a deduction for personal property taxes.
The State of NH portion of your registration is not deductible.

Lost Registration
If your registration is lost, a certified copy of your registration can be provided at City Hall for an $18 fee.
Snow Emergencies
During the hours of the snow emergency, the City of Nashua will be towing vehicles remaining on the street and in the municipal surface lots. Owners of towed vehicles may retrieve their cars at the Solid Waste Department (Landfill) and must pay a fine of $315 (cash, money order or credit card only). Please note that cars may be picked up at the landfill scale house at all times during the snow emergency. After the snow emergency has been lifted, cars may be picked up during normal business hours.
