Overview / Product Description

Nauticam NA-G5XII Underwater Housing Package for Canon Powershot G5 X Mark II Camera With the PowerShot G5 X Mark II, Canon continues to raise the performance bar for their 1"-sensor equipped lineup of advanced compact cameras. With this second iteration of the G5 X, the 20.1MP stacked CMOS sensor is coupled to the high-speed DIGIC 8 processor delivering sizable gains in both autofocus capability, continuous shooting speed and image processing. The 24-120mm zoom lens features a maximum F1.8 aperture and Canon's Optical Image Stabilization. The G5 X Mark II also receives 4K 30p UHD video capture, utilizing the full sensor width and clean HDMI output.

THE CANON POWERSHOT G5 X MARK II

Maximizing performance, flexibility and portability is the goal of the Canon G5 X Mark II. The second iteration of the G5 X model, the G5 X Mark II is built around a 20.1MP 1" stacked CMOS sensor. The stacked design allows for faster transfer and processing of the image data as well as increasing autofocus and continuous shooting performance.

AUTOFOCUS AND CONTINUOUS SHOOTING

Thanks to advances in the stacked CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 8 Image Processor, the G5 X Mark II can capture images at 20fps with autofocus tracking enabled. With autofocus locked there is also a 30fps RAW Burst Mode. The DIGIC 8 also promises superior ISO performance and the G5 X Mark II has an ISO range of 125-6,400, expandable to 25,600. The maximum shutter speed is 1/2,000sec and 1/25,600sec for the electronic shutter.

VIDEO RECORDING

Where the original G5 X was limited to HD recording, the G5 X Mark II adds UHD 4K recording at 30p with a respectable 120 Mbps bit-rate with H.264 compression to UHS-1 SDHC or SDXC cards. The OIS stabilized 24-120mm equivalent lens also features a 3-stop variable neutral density filter to help maintain video-friendly shutter speeds in bright conditions or to achieve artistic shallow depth-of-field macro images while minimizing ambient light intrusion. The G5 X Mark II has a Type-D Micro HDMI port which can transmit clean 4K or HD video.

THE NAUTICAM NA-G5XII UNDERWATER HOUSING

Nauticam housings are designed to be intuitive, versatile and dependable while providing an unparalleled underwater image-making experience. Whether for a compact camera or a cinema camera, each housing is designed to be not just a housing for the camera but as a tool that enhances the user experience. Nauticam's Mission Control philosophy aims to place critical controls where you need them most, not where they happen to appear on the camera. The NA-G5XII builds upon a long line of Nauticam housings that include the original G5 X and three versions of its G7 X sibling. The housing is built around the expanding N50 Interchangeable Port System. NOTE: the NA-G5XII does not support the use of the camera's pop-up EVF inside the housing.

MISSION CONTROL

The NA-G5XII features a two-stage trigger, large lockable zoom lever and knurled dials for the MODE and Exposure Compensation control dials. A textured dial at the front of the housing, within easy reach of a natural hand position, controls the lens control ring of the camera. On the rear of the housing, in addition to the four-way controller are buttons for the customizable "*" button which can be assigned as an AF-ON control to facilitate the popular back-button method of autofocus control as well as RECORD button. Using this method, autofocus activation is removed from the trigger and is controlled solely by pressing the AF-ON control button to prevent refocusing by the camera between shutter presses. The RECORD button can also be assigned a variety of other functions such as activating the 30fps RAW Burst Mode.

HDMI VIDEO OUTPUT

With full-sensor width UHD 4K 30p clean video signal output over HDMI, the G5 X Mark II can be paired with an external monitor like the SmallHD 502 Bright to aid with composition and accurate judging of focus and exposure. The NA-G5XII housing's M16 bulkhead can be outfitted to support HDMI output via HDMI 1.4 to Nauticam Monitor housings such as the NA-502B. PREMIUM PROFESSIONAL OPTICS

The N50 interchangeable port system means the NA-G5XII can take advantage of Nauticam's line of premium professional underwater optics. The housing ships with the N50 Standard Port which allows for the use of the camera's full 24-120mm equivalent zoom range as well as the CMC-1, CMC-2, and SMC-1 (2.3x Magnification) Macro Optic when equipped with the optional M67 Flip Diopter Holder (25107). Note, the SMC-1 provides optimum results when used past 90mm equivalent zoom length and will vignette at wider fields-of-view or farther focal distances. To return the lens' original field of view, the NA-G5XII can be used with the N50 3.5" Acrylic Dome Port. This port also allows for the use of the full zoom range but cannot accept diopters. The Nauticam WWL-1 (83201) and WWL-C (83203) Wet-Wide Lenses bring professional wide-angle performance to the NA-G5XII providing a 130º field-of-view and 0" minimum focus distance. The WWL-1 works within the 28-50mm zoom range, while the WWL-C works in the 24-50mm range. To use either the WWL-1 or WWL-C the NA-G5XII requires the optional N50 Short Port 25 with Bayonet Mount (38703). The Bayonet Mount System allows for easy removal of the lens underwater to further expand the flexibility of the system.

FLASH TRIGGERING

The NA-G5XII features built-in optical bulkheads that transmit the camera's internal flash via optional Universal Fiber Optic Cables (26216) to supported external strobes. The internal flash can be raised and lowered inside the housing to facilitate fast switching between natural light and artificial light situations.

ADDITIONAL ACCESSORIES

The NA-G5XII ships with stainless steel stabilizing brackets and a shutter release extension that can use with the optional Flexitray II system. The housing also features a cold-shoe and M10 threaded mounts.

INTEGRATED VACUUM CHECK AND LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM

The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection system is shipped with NA-G5XII as standard equipment. Combined with an accessory M14 Vacuum Valve II (PN 25624), this monitoring system provides constant updates on the watertight and safe-to-dive status of the housing. A simple color-coded LED lighting system lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is built into the same circuit, so if there is water intrusion, an audible and visual indication will occur. The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms caused by a change in outside temperature, or from a camera heating up on an action-packed dive.

OPTIONAL NA-G5XII PRO PACKAGE CONFIGURATION

The NA-G5XII is available in the Pro Package configuration which includes the Flexitray II with left handle (71207), adjustable right handle (71208) as well as two Strobe Mounting Balls (71311) and the M14 Vacuum Valve II (25624) preinstalled.
