BMW Australia has increased the pricing of its two large SUVs, the X5 wagon and X6 coupe, by up to $4000.

The recently launched M Competition flagships of both models are the only variants that go unchanged. The X5 and X6 line-ups have otherwise jumped between $2000 and $4000.

As such, the former now ranges from $102,900 to $209,900 plus on-road costs, while the latter stretches from $123,900 to $213,900 (see full pricing tables below).

Speaking to CarsGuide, a BMW Australia spokesperson confirmed no changes have been made to standard specification, as the company “constantly reviews its pricing structure, factoring in the exchange rate, inflation and changes to material costs”.

The X5 is still available in six variants, with the entry-level xDrive25d motivated by a 170kW/450Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine, while the xDrive30d ups the ante with a 195kW/620Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel inline six-cylinder unit.

Meanwhile, the xDrive40i uses a 250kW/450Nm 3.0-litre turbo-petrol inline six-cylinder engine, while the xDrive40e has the same unit but adds an electric motor for increased outputs of 290kW/600Nm.

The M50i and M Competition are both powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, with the former producing 390kW/750Nm, while the latter develops 460kW/750Nm.

Either way, an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission is standard alongside BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

The X6 is only offered in four of the six aforementioned variants, the xDrive30d, xDrive40i, M50i and M Competition, all of which use the exact same combinations.
