Aberdeenshire May 26, 2013 32,749 65,683 165 46 Thought it was 185 boosting to 230 hp. I had a drag race with our t7 200. Thought it would keep up, about 5 miles all uphill loaded with cows. The 7050 left it for dead. Shows how confusing hp figures are. The 7050 has a good engine, feels sluggish pulling away but once it's going pulls really well. The t7. 235 is replacement model. YELROM

What's the difference between rated and max hp? T

Max you will get in draft work I.e heavy lugging pulling the engine right back. Combines for instance only use max power figures as they are always in a max power situation. (if they are kept loaded!) Last edited: Mar 16, 2016 DrDunc

Rated HP is the output at full revs. Max is whatever the maximum output, tuned usually to be slightly lower than PTO revs. In the days before electronics, diesel engines generally produced max HP at full (rated) speed because that was when the mechanical pump governor squirted in the most fuel.

North Canterbury, NZ Feb 16, 2013 1,479 996 87 Have 2 t7050's. They dyno at 204 hp non boosted and 224 hp Both of mine are auto command so don't know about power command ones. They pull well. Both with over 6000 hours on them.
