Liked our 140 when we had it. Very nice cab to sit in, range command uses less power than power command but the overlap between B and C range can be very annoyinng when mowing for example you run in b6 then to change up on headland goes to c2 thenstep down to c1 then b5 so tend to just sit in the one gear. Powercommand being full powershift you can go up and down much easier its probably the better box to drive but wastes more power noticable on roadwork. Main problems we had on ours was forward reverse potentiometers would wear after a while not a big problem to fix. Seem to stand being turned up quite well there's a 155 near me not sure what power it is but when he has front and back 10ft mowers on needs 3 tanks of diesel per day and has been fairly fault free which is surprising when you see some of its drivers BBig Vern

we have a TM 140 at home, its a range command with the 3 ranges ABC. the gear boxes do need to be calibrated when the shifts ge jerky, usually after lots of road haulage when driven harshly.. its a very comfy office, has it got FL + PTO, if it has FPTO check when you fire it up you dont get an error code as the fix is expensive ( the sensor is cheap but you have to take the front end off to do it.. if its done a lot of trl work check (oviously) for wear on the hitch, the swing back hitch is ok but if your short seeing the hook from the seat can be a challenge especially with the pto guard down, PTO is easy to change shafts (keep a pair of circlip pliers and a flat hea dscrew driver in external tool box, although when you change it make sure you rotate the circlip.. it can pop out under power if you dont, potentialy meg expense.. happen to casual at our place, he rang me to say he had lost drive on the pto.. when i got there the shaft had popped out but not come out.... lost a bit of oil but phew it could of been mega. if you are operating say a seperator or spud harvester on it, make sure you get a line load sensor put on the machine so your not firing oil thru the tractor all the time it gets so hot oil seals WILL melt... the fuel filters dont like dirty fuel.. to the extent that you'll son no if the filter has even a mild piece of crap in it.. really though its a good yoke, fantastic puller our bossed a 5F dodws plough now a khun vari width and press, 5 leg soiler at 18 inch, it hasnt been chipped or opened up though, just gets regular service-oil n filters, that one on the mowers thats using 3 tanks a day is opened up??nick

on our bed tiller i would use starting at 0700- use down to yellow marks by 1600hrs - thats not over scientific i know but 2 weeks sat on a bed tiller you know day after what it using, didnt drop it lower than that incase we sucked up any crap, refilled from bowser. same bed tiller on T6070 tanks is down to yellow by 1530, both tractors working at full depth bed tiller gets new blades every season 1000 pto flat out. on general work it much of muchness, although we had a neighbours JD6920S (i think it had an S on it on the tiler one day and that seemd to have a hole in the tank......) and if im honest i would sooner sit in the TM then the T6 than sit in the JD.... cramped cab, noisy (as in buzzy) and it wont go slow enuff on a bed tiller...slurryboy

Yeah she has been turned up but don't know how far. Our 140 used to use around 15l/hr at one farm on tanker puma was using 12.5l/hr on same run with same tanker although the 50k box in puma might have helped as in yard and field don't use much. MMike

Am I correct in saying that when the 'packs' fail in these, they can be accessed externally without splitting the tractor? Hhotrodharry

I wish it was that simple! no they cant have to split the front of them to get at some of them and have to remove the gearbox to get at the restÓ hÉidin

they are a grand oul bus, but they are quite sore on diesel from my experience, you need to get them remapped or chipped or whatever, uncles TM140 was a pig on diesel and low on power, got her chipped or remapped and she doing 180 at the shaft and alot easier on diesel, you'll need the 180 donkeys for the haulage work with a range command or a jd powerquad will eat her up.

range command box's can give a bit of bother if the tractor is pumping out more than 150hp, main shaft not sure of the scientific name for it can break, also if excessive power is been pumped out the oil cooler aint big enough to keep hyd oil cool thus melting seals which in turn tend to be in the gearbox, engine is pretty much bomb proof, hyd pump if looked after will last for a long ime, power command expect to lose 15 or so hp, same box inside pretty much just a couple more clutch packs and the housing is a lot larger, our tm165 on the slurry tank uses around 12 to 13 ltrs an hr with me driving, on the jf i,ve seen it use close to 20ltrs an hr , its 185hp at the shaft, the tm135 has 12500hrs and had to split it before xmas as the shaft i mentioned above had to be replaced, as it is close in hp to the 165, cab is one of the best imo, sitting up nice a high looking down on everything not as cocooned as lets say a jd, keep the gearbox calibrated and apart from the odd potentiometer and go easy with the brakes , some are fitting with the cheaper plastic discs
... but i think that for your money you'll go far to get better value nashmach

Range Command as said has quite a few gaps so beware. Not a bad tractor at all and lots of gearbox options so surely one to suit all. Lots around here with more than 10k hours and still going strong. Don't go any less than a 125/130, drove a TM115 at harvest and thought it gutless compared to a T6010!!nick

The range changes are only a case of holding a button down while shifting, have the same gears as the power command but they are ordered slightly different to allow an overlap between ranges B
