Ruffian said: Caddy 2k are a cracking van. They are great, especially as everything from touran swaps over. The only thing which is labour intensive is swapping the dash board. (Touran has a glovebox where caddy has the shelf) So much nicer once the carpet is in rather than the rubber mats. Looks like you got a decent starting point. Is it tdi or sdi? Click to expand...

Unfortunately they’re not a straight swap. The only ones that are are the caddy life ones. Check out my mini build HERE EM1L4

The last option yielded some fruit in the form of a few vids of Ecu faults caused by chaffing of the thin control wires in the loom. So I rang the seller and asked would he mind me visiting prior to organising its collection to see if I could source the problem. He was off work the following day so agreed. Next morning I picked up my old man for the ride along as he was doing my mothers head in and he wanted to pick up his weekly alcohol intake from Lidl’s which would save me two journeys! I shoved a load of gear in the golf , like gas soldering iron, wire, multimeter, shrink tube, insulting tape ( :D ) and self amalgamating tape and a couple of screw drivers and socket sets. I checked the cam sensor plug after unplugging it a confirmed loss of 5v on the feed! Airbox out, plastic trunking conduit stuff pulled off behind the rad and found the culprit. Four wires with witness marks from being worn away by the corrugations in the conduit and I managed to pull apart 4 of them! A quick repair and an insulation job, cleared the faults and hey presto, no faults return and a running van. The PO joked, you’ll be driving it home at this rate! To which my dad piped up “I can drive your Golf if you want”! 20 mins later after ringing my ins co. we were heading for home, not 2 hours after we’d arrived! Result! Within a couple of hours of getting it home, I had stolen the alloys off the Golf, removed half a ton of Stainless tat and given it a good clean. What is that about!! You could of at least made it look like is was gonna be a tough repair, that seller must have been kicking himself after you fixed it on his drive:clapping: Exuptoy

Messages 3,135 Location Maesteg, South Wales I do have a soft spot for the Dubs, I owned the T5 below for 7 years, total bills for £20k over that time (inc buying it) and sold it for £15250! You can argue with a £4K loss in 7 years! Haha, yeah @lchris21 the mini is in there somewhere. I’ve fixed my Portamig now so will be back on it shortly. That is once I’ve sorted out the T2 for its Mot!!! He was quite tidy about it in fairness but I’d imagine it must have stung a little especially as he’d already been in there further up and taped up a few skinned cables (the thicker injector ones). He was fine after. Said he’d paid £1650 two years earlier so he’d racked up 20k for £650. He’d kept it in reasonable fettle though, full timing belt kit inc water pump, front springs, rear shocks, full service and oil changed every 6k. Check out my mini build HERE R

Sdi is non turbo. Tdi is turboed The 1.9 pd engine is one of my favourite engines. Remap really nicely. Only one to really watch is the bls engine code as they like to snap con rods Exuptoy

Messages 3,135 Location Maesteg, South Wales It is a BLS and TDi according to this. It goes well enough. Quicker than my T5 before the remap which was just 84bhp. 01EB958F-BDD8-41F8-A051-BE28F312DADD.jpeg Check out my mini build HERE Gareth J

H no. :D Remove the floor extension and weld in the seat supports, fit the Touran seats and carpets, sound deadening and insulate before a full carpet job, axle flip and lower it on Stance+ kit because I’ve fitted 3 lots so far and like the quality and ride, get the minor body damage sorted maybe a mild front end facelift. All that inc purchase should come in at under £2k so still money in it for later when it gets upgraded to a later one. I’ve already removed the bulkhead and started carpeting the boards. E3C93E64-0758-4CBB-A37B-7433EAEDF0DD.jpeg I’m looking for this sort of finish inside. D26C1FC3-B9D3-4A14-A384-150C628DCD4E.jpeg Check out my mini build HERE Exuptoy

Messages 3,854 Location North Cornwall We spent bloody ages on this one. And it was a mechanic or metalwork van at some point - so oily! Worth it though, we use it pretty regularly and enjoyed doing it. IMG_20210905_180032171_HDR.jpg IMG_20210905_180053486_HDR.jpg (Bit untidy!) Exuptoy

Cheers. Yea, twin doors are a nice touch but unnecessarily for how we use it really. Things I'd like to do but probably won't get around to; better seats and dash (I quite like the rubber footwells though), 6speed conversion - ideally before the rattly dmf pops a chunk out of the side, cruise control would be really nice. Messages 3,135 Location Maesteg, South Wales I’ve just purchased a cruise stalk (£15), and multi function tall red display clocks with temp gauge from a Touran (£25), I need to check the steering module to see if it’s compatible with cruise, if not that’ll be around £60, I’m sure my slip ring assy is compatible according to the numbers. Doc on the Caddy2k forum has offered to code it all for around £80 so it should be all good. It’ll just be a day out up to Leicestershire to get it done. Check out my mini build HERE Gareth J

Hmm, less appealing if module changes and coding are required! R

Doc is very handy bloke on vcds. As is jase aka slowtdi if down south. Vag com is a blessing and to get cruise and mfd/steering wheel controls usually a high line dash unit is needed. (Can cross over to some Audi/seat range as just coded an a3 bcm into a caddy maxi) Exuptoy

Messages 3,135 Location Maesteg, South Wales Is Jase nearer South Wales then? Anyone near me that you’re aware of @Ruffian ? I can get a 3 licence VCDS for £225 from Gendan in Swansea nut think you need Vag-Tacho to get the immo code for the clocks to get the SKC code. All what I’ve gleaned on C2K.
