Volkswagen already has two SUVs slated to launch this year – Taigun and the 2021 Tiguan. But according to the latest development, Volkswagen India might roll out a new SUV in March. According to the industry reports, the new SUV would be none other than the Volkswagen Atlas Cross. During the media event, the SUV was briefly teased by Ashish Gupta and though the car appeared covered, the silhouette did suggest that the car might be quite similar to the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. The Atlas Cross Sport is a slightly downsized version of the standard crossover Atlas Cross. Picture Credit: Times Drive The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is an easy option for the automaker to bring in to India since it already being retailed in high volume markets like China and the Middle East and a few others too. The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is currently priced at $30,855 (Rs 22.59 lakh approx.) and the timing seems quite perfect as the Mahindra XUV500 and the Tata Safari are also gearing up for a grand comeback. The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder TSI turbo-petrol engine and offers 238 Nm of power and 349 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. If it actually is the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport that the automaker is bringing in then there might not be many changes that will have to be made for the Indian-specced version, at least not in the engine.
