A ... more Urban sprawl is an international phenomenon happening principally in quickly developing areas. A study on the spatiotemporal features of urban sprawl is useful for sustainable land management, landscape, and urban land planning. The present research explores the trends, types, and changes of the landscape of urban sprawl in the context of a rapid urbanization process in Pleiku city and in the Central Highland of Viet Nam from 2000 to 2019. The results show the expansion of the Pleiku city has witnessed a fluctuation in its land uses through two decades. The rate of land use in residential areas has been increasing by 0.22 percent, infrastructures (0.61 percent), and other lands (0.41 percent). This assertion is further supported by the rapid reduction of the vacant land (1.14 percent) and agricultural land (0.21%). Moreover, three types of urban sprawl are distinguished by analyzing covered urban area maps from the analysis of Satellite data images and current land use maps. Firstly, it is the outlying type with an area of 3.97 km 2, almost 62.72 percent of the total newly increased urban area. Secondly, the area of the infilling type is 1.11 km 2, which makes up 17.54 percent, and the figure for the edge-expansion area is 1.25 km 2, accounting for 19.75% of the total urban sprawl area. Studying trends and types of urban sprawl are useful to manage and properly allocate for sustainable land resources as well as urban land use planning.Download 
RISK ASSESSMENT AND MANAGEMENT IN DOMESTIC WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM IN PLEIKU CITY -GIA LAI PROVINCEWater is essential for maintaining life, ensuring a safe and continuous supply of water, therefor... more Water is essential for maintaining life, ensuring a safe and continuous supply of water, therefore, it should be given the priority for concerns. Developing countries often face a number of problems with domestic water supply systems such as treatment plants with old technologies, degraded equipment leading to inefficient treatment, and a network of degraded piping, which could cause re-pollution of treated water during transport. Pleiku city, which is located in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, has built two treatment plants and a network of water supply pipelines in the core area. An analysis of the current state of the water supply system including water supply, treatment plant and pipeline system helps identify existing problems in the system. Through mixed methods, hazards or hazardous events are identified as a basis for risk assessment by using semiquantitative method to assess raw risk and residual risk for each hazard. Priority risks are identified to focus on proposing the possible solutions that will improve the performance and management of domestic water supply systems.Download 
Công tác quy hoạch sử dụng đất tại Gia Lai - Nhìn từ khía cạnh thực tiễnĐất đai trong điều kiện nền kinh tế thị trường không chỉ là tư liệu sản xuất mà còn là hàng hóa đ... more Đất đai trong điều kiện nền kinh tế thị trường không chỉ là tư liệu sản xuất mà còn là hàng hóa đặc biệt, vì vậy công tác Quy hoạch sử dụng đất có tác động tới toàn bộ nền kinh tế.Quy hoạch sử dụng đất là 1 trong 13 nội dung quản lý nhà nước về đất đai (Điều 6 của Luật Đất đai năm 2003). Là cơ sở quan trọng để Nhà nước thực hiện tốt công tác giao đất, cho thuê đất, thu hồi đất, chuyển mục đích sử dụng đất,... nhằm nâng cao hiệu quả quản lý Nhà nước về đất đai.Thời gian qua, công tác này trên địa bàn tỉnh Gia Lai được coi trọng và đã mang lại những hiệu quả nhất định trong việc tăng cường được hiệu lực, hiệu quả quản lý và sử dụng đất đai, phục vụ phát triển kinh tế xã hội, quốc phòng an ninh trong quá trình công nghiệp hóa, hiện đại hóa. Đồng thời góp phần chuyển dịch cơ cấu kinh tế trên địa bàn tỉnh cũng như xác lập cơ chế điều tiết việc phân bổ đất đai vào mục đích sử dụng, chủ động dành quỹ đất hợp lý cho phát triển các ngành, các lĩnh vực cụ thể. Bên cạnh đó, đảm bảo cơ sở pháp lý cho việc giao đất, cho thuê đất, chuyển mục đích sử dụng đất. Đảm bảo khoanh vùng và hạn chế đến mức thấp nhất việc chuyển đất nông nghiệp, đặc biệt là đất lúa nước sang các mục đích khác. Tạo điều kiện cho các địa phương, các ngành phân bổ nguồn vốn đầu tư tốt hơn.Tuy nhiên, trong quá trình thực hiện lập và quản lý quy hoạch sử dụng đất trên địa bàn tỉnh vẫn còn nảy sinh một số bất cập như: Thiếu sự đồng bộ giữa Quy hoạch sử dụng đất với Quy hoạch của các ngành, các lĩnh vực. Lập Quy hoạch sử dụng đất theo quy trình “ngược”. Thiếu sự kiểm soát chặt chẽ sau khi Quy hoạch sử dụng đất có hiệu lực. Nguồn tư liệu phục vụ lập Quy hoạch sử dụng đất còn thiếu và bất cập. Và, đội ngũ thực hiện lập Quy hoạch còn thiếu và yếu.Download
