Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs. In this section, we are going to illustrate the Nikon D5600 and Nikon D7200 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Nikon D5600 has external dimensions of 124 x 97 x 70 mm (4.88 x 3.82 x 2.76″) and weighs 465 g (1.03 lb / 16.40 oz) (including batteries). Nikon D7200 has external dimensions of 136 x 107 x 76 mm (5.35 x 4.21 x 2.99″) and weighs 765 g (1.59 lb / 25.40 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Nikon D5600 and the Nikon D7200. Nikon D5600 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 12mm narrower, 10mm shorter and 6mm thinner than Nikon D7200.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Nikon D5600 and Nikon D7200.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day. Nikon D5600 is significantly lighter (300g ) than the Nikon D7200 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since both Nikon D5600 and Nikon D7200 have the same Nikon F lens mount and APS-C sized sensors, lenses will not be a differentiator on total size of the system.

D5600 D7200 Min Average Max Weather SealingThanks to the weather-sealed body of the D7200, you can use this camera with more confidence under conditions where there is risk of exposure to water and dust compared to the D5600.
LCD Screen Size and FeaturesNikon D5600 and Nikon D7200's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.20 inches.
On the other hand, Nikon D5600 sports a Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. Nikon D7200's LCD screen is a fixed type which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to D5600.Both Nikon D5600 and Nikon D7200 have APS-C sized 24.0 MP resolution sensors so sensor size and resolution is not a differentiator between these two cameras.
Another similarity between these two cameras is that both Nikon D7200 and Nikon D5600 sensors lack anti-alias (Low-Pass) filters. Removing anti-alias filter increases the sharpness and level of detail but at the same time, it increases the chance of moiré occurring in certain scenes.
Below you can see the D5600 and D7200 sensor size comparison.
Nikon D5600 and Nikon D7200 have the same sensor sizes so they will provide same level of control over the depth of field when used with same focal length and aperture.
DxOMark Sensor ScoresDxOMark is a benchmark that scientifically assesses image quality of camera sensors. It scores camera sensors for color depth (DXO Portrait), dynamic range (DXO Landscape) and low-light sensitivity (DXO Sports), and also gives them an overall score. Nikon D5600 and Nikon D7200 sensors have been tested by DxO and the results show that D7200 has a better overall score of 87, 3 points higher compared to D5600's score of 84.
| Model | Overall | Color Depth | Dynamic Range | Low-light ISO |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nikon D5600 | 84 | 24.1 bits | 14.0 Evs | 1306 ISO |
| Nikon D7200 | 87 | 24.5 bits | 14.6 Evs | 1333 ISO |
The number of available lenses is a big deciding factor when choosing your interchangeable lens camera. Nikon D5600 and Nikon D7200 have the same Nikon F lens mount and currently there are 316 native lenses available for these cameras.
Another important factor is the availability of image stabilization. None of these bodies have sensor based image stabilization so you have to buy lenses with Optical stabilization feature. Currently there are 108 lenses with Image stabilization for Nikon F mount.
