Arguably, it's the best option for a beginner or hobbyist. It has a plethora of useful features. If purchased new, it will be problem-free for many years. The aperture ring position sensor, memory card slot cover, and rubber parts are the least reliable elements. Noticeable noise after 640 iso. If possible, it's better to get a full frame unless you plan to shoot with a super-telephoto lens.
Pros
- 14 bit color depth
- Multi-functionality
- Sturdy body
- 2 slots for SDXC memory cards
- 6fps shooting speed
- Shutter speed 1/8000
Cons
- Not rain resistant
- Heavy
- Complicated menu
- Lacks a mode dial lock

This camera has worked flawlessly in a host of different situations and has essentially always delivered, maybe that's why I've found it hard to switch out.....if there's a new one it will be in the 800-range or something in medium format.
Pros
- Great camera at an extremely good price.
Cons
- I prefer cameras marked as 'made in Japan', but mine says 'made in Thailand', maybe I need to reconsider :o)
