Hey there guys, i've modded vanilla skyrim using Mod Organizer(with loot, TESVedit, and SKSE plugins). It was a very easy and streamlinned experience. Today, i decided to mod for the first time Fallout 4. My rig is basically a 6700k, 1080 and 16gb ram. Now my question is Should i mod Fallout 4 using NMM or Mod Organizer? I have heard of alot of bugs on NMM for FO4, and i haven't found Mod Orginizer for FO4, can i download the Mod Orginizer from the Skyrim Nexus? or Mod Orginizer will not work anymore with the latest Fallout 4 version? Please help with relevent info(since i have heavly modded Skyrim before, i know the basics). Thanks in Advance! Also, since my rig can handle it, and i have the amount of space, is the High Res Pack worth it? Is it the same as the Skyrim High Res pack( which actually worked well with Texture mods of the nexus.)? Basically if, there are other Texture mods that do the exact same thing as the highres tex pack from FO4. I would not install it, unless its complements other texture mods. Thanks! Hello.Old MO does not work with Fallout 4. You will need 64bit version Mod Organizer 2, from Skyrim SE Nexus, or GitHub.As a long time supporter of MO, I would actually recommend using NMM instead. It depends which mods you have. MO2 is not yet really stable. It does not catch Wrye Bash data and has issues with LOOT sorting the game.Only real resource priority mess in Fallou 4 modding scene right now are HUD mods. If you can get past them with NMM, you are good to use it.You can use MO2, but it has plenty of issues, including it crashing after application using it reaches memory threshold. This can make modding the game and running tools troublesome.I am testing MO2 with different games and mods. I am also following LePresidente's Discord and GitHub pages. If you can deal with MO2 issues and - especially - if you want to contribute to the project, then jump in. :)Until Vortex comes out, or MO2 gets few more critical updates, NMM is the best tool for modding FO4 otherwise. As stated above you want to use NMM.In case you don't know, you have to add 3 lines to the Custom.ini inorder for nexus mods to work.In Documents/My Games/Fallout 4/Fallout4Custom.ini add the following 3 lines under iLocation Y=0;[Archive]bInvalidateOlderFiles=1sResourceDataDirsFinal=Make sure you place the capital letters where they go and nexus mods will work. Thanks dude! To answer your quick question, im more interested in adding texture packs and 2-3 guns, the armor extended and a few more small "immersive" mods. im assuming NMM will be fine? How do i use LOOT and FO4SE(when i was using MO, i had them as plugins)? Oh, and Skyrim had TESVedit, and i fell in love! Does Fallout 4 have such a program to clean master files or dirty edits? Thanks in advance! NMM will be fine.I've never used LOOT.I don't have any mods that require F4SE but, you get it from silverlock.org[not a link] same as where you get SKSE.There is a FO4Edit. I also have never used it. Edit; You have a 1080 card which is what you want with the HD pack but, if you're playing the game at 1920x1080 you won't see much if any improvements with the pack installed. You can configure both LOOT and FO4Edit through NMM, if you want. They + BodySlide have configuration options in it. You can run them directly through NMM, or as a standalone.F4SE was just updated with more Papyrus functions. Like with other applications, you can use it as a standalone, or launch it directly through NMM.I am using LOOT, FO4Merged.esp and Bashed Patch to manage my game, just as we do with Skyrim. You should be familiar with them all. If you need any pointers, then feel free to ask. Thanks again guys for your precise answers, i've started the process now. I'll keep u updated if i get into any sticky situation! Cheers! OH! Is it As reccommended as it is for Skyrim to clean the ITM or dirty files? i remember that i cleaned Skyrim and all its DLC, without having any mods installed first, it the game was running MUCH smoother(no more FPS dips, EVER). Does FO4+DLC benefit from Fo4edit or only if i heavely mod FO4? Files are unclean, but I do not recommend cleaning them yet. We were checking them in Coffee Room Discord, but actually managed to find some issues from cleaning process. I need discuss with Avrie about this. We will make some sort of tutorial or guide about FO4 files. So far dirty files have not caused notable issues, so you can just as well leave them without cleaning, until we are done.If you use Armorsmith Extended, then you might want to use FO4Edit to create FO4Merged.esp, so that all keywords are assigned properly - when possible. Otherwise there is little reason to fiddle with xEdit for FO4 right now. Thanks alot again! I've been using NMM for over 800 hours of gametime and have had very few, actually no major problems at all. biggest problem ive had a couple times are mods not fully downloading and having to restart NMM, then they download fine. if you like building at all I'd really recommend f4se and place everywhere. I waited a long time to install it as I didn't feel it was necessary, but it really, really improves what you can do with building settlements. Thanks! If i got steam and FO4 on my ssd, should i also install NMM on my ssd or my HDD?
Apparently the developers of Mod Organizer have merged with Nexus Mod Manager, so they'll share features. Mod Organizer hasn't received any updates since June 2016, so I assume it is now redundant.
Mod Organizer (32bit) works just fine for 32bit games.Mod Organizer 2 (64bit) is under constant development, by LePresidente. Team is working with their own fork, with Tannin's permission. This is the MO2 we are talking about. It is not yet fully stable for FO4.Vortex is the upcoming new mod manager. Development is lead by Tannin, who was hired by Nexus to do so. It will use virtual file system like MO does. It is expected to be in alpha testing withing two months (1-6 weeks), but of course everything can happen. Vortex is meant to replace NMM. I use NMM and LOOT myself, and F4SE for a few specific mods, like LooksMenu.Believe me, if I was able to have those working, you shouldn't have any problem at all using them. And I got lots of help from this forum when my brain wasn't enough.

I use Mod Organizer 2 for Fallout 4. I've had no issues with it myself. It was Mod Organizer 2 I was referring to, not the original.
I originally used MO2 for Fallout 4 as well. Tannins original fork had massive issues with it, which are still being sorted by LePresidente. It is a bit weird that modding the game with it is still hit and miss. Sometimes it seems to work like good old MO. Sometimes it crashes all the time and refuses to add output data to Overwrite.GitHub dumped a big list of issues to my Discord at Saturday. Some of them were already closed. I am hoping that modding FO4 with MO2 would soon become less hit and miss project. That would be very nice. The memory treshold issue is still open though. That is a problem that needs to be sorted out, before I start recommending MO2 for actual players.
