}{yBr!D^ I've been itching to go the Noctua route... I built my mother a PC last year because she needed the upgrade, massively. Since she wasn't going to be gaming (and I did overbuilt her system for what she needs and will use it for.) figured I'd "futureproof" her setup as much as I can. Just for some perspective, her PC is being cooled by 6 NF-P12's, CPU cooler is an NH-U14S and added an extra NF-A15 which is cooling an i5-9600K (non-OC'd) in a Fractal Design Meshify C. I was massively surprised how well things were being cooled on just air. Now, I've been running AIO's since 2010 with a H100i Extreme Performance 240 in my old rig and have gone through other one's from my other builds (daughter and son) and always see very good numbers in cooling performance. Right now I'm running on my rig the AIO mentioned in the title and I'm getting idle temps as low as 27C and max stress load (not including spikes, CPU-Z/AIDA64/Blender looped) 84C, the rad is setup as push/pull side mounted on a O11Dynamic XL using QL120's (I know low static pressure but they were so sexy) @ extreme pump (2900RPM) and fan speeds (1500RPM). The case has a total of 13 QL120 fans and the flow is rather nice, upon regular use.. editing or gaming the CPU doesn't break 64C. I'm actually considering throwing in the RGB towel and going full Noctuas with the same AIO, limiting the RGB for more chromax performance and was just wondering how both of the mentioned CPU coolers stacked up against on another... if not, I'm going to go Noctua/Soft tube loop. heh. EDIT BTW, I am running an OC on the 10-900K, 5.2GHz @ 1.360v, all core. #1 · Mar 11, 2021 I've been itching to go the Noctua route... You're already at 84C (without temp spikes considered) with a rather high OC. If you want to go the D15 route, consider dropping to 5Ghz with a lower voltage to get better temps and a longer lasting CPU. Remember, heat is one of the two major factors that contribute to CPU degradation and destruction. The other being current. I'm just curious, what kind of VR OUT voltage are you getting under stress testing? What LLC are you using? What is your package wattage draw? If you don't mind sharing. #3 · Mar 11, 2021 I don't mind sharing, that's the whole point of joining and being a part of the community. :) Though, I'm currently at work and I can't elaborate currently on specifics. Once I get home I'll let you know. Thanks for your insight. :) I plan on staying AIO for a while then and I'm content with the 5.2GHz performance I'm currently getting out of my CPU... probably adding some noctua fans to the rad will help reduce the liquid temps some. I read that the H150i shine best not using Corsair fans. 1 Reply #4 · Mar 11, 2021 hello, "futureproofing" the built of your mother probably means lasting for over a decade ^^ the d15 is considered about equal to a 240mm AIO, but is quieter at idle loads because of the lacking pump noise. the H150i is a 360mm AIO so under load it will cool better than the d15. with your airflow i would go with the d15, overclocking is going to be better on the H150i AIO though. it is your choice between lower idle noise and potentially less chance of cooler failure or better cooling and higher idle noise. have a nice day #6 · Mar 11, 2021 That term I know is lightly used yet, the PC is for my mother who is 65 years of age so, this will surpass a decade of use. I think she was previously on a core 2 duo. Thabks for the insight, man. I am aware that Corsair uses a very generic type of pump system at the time when I first used their ecosystem of products I was happy with the numbers and aesthetics. I also didnt5 wa t tons of 3rd party lighting software either. Since I am considsring going Chromax I will take under consideration the AIO's you've mentioned. I'm also considering doing an industrial looking matte black soft tubing/black nickle fittings with a distributor. So, we will see.. the only thing keeping me away from a custom loop is well, the yearly maintenance of draining and refilling. Besides the fear of leakage and/or user error (since it will be my first custom loop) it's quite the risk I do not want to take which is why AIO's are way more attractive to me (and myself). Building computer next year, and will migrate some of the fans from the old rig into the new one. Insert Quotes Post Reply
