I really like the NH-U12A but apparently it's not very compatible with the i9 9900k. What's the nearest alternative ?

The case I want to fit is https://www.corsair.com/ww/en/Categories/Products/Cases/SPEC-06/p/CC-9011145-WW

Noctua D15 or DRP4 would both be good choices for the 9900k I would think

    nh-u12A should be enough.....

but there is so much headroom in your case. why not get a nh-d15?

Kinda feel like that case's airflow may be an issue?  That front looks like the gap for air isn't all that wide.

There's always the AIO option too.

What do you mean it's not very compatible? it supports the socket and fits your case, you can use it by every mean.

Cooling performance might prevent you from overclocking all cores past 5ghz but it's not it'll catch fire or anything.

Why are you asking me?  YOU are the one that said it's not compatible and put that link up.  I don't see a NH-12A on it, so please reference exactly what you're seeing.

The highlights are me do a search for "NH-12" and looking for an A sku.

Noctua’s saying that 9900k is a hot bastard and if you are an overclocker you should buy a better cooler for more overclocking headroom. Which is fair enough, one of Noctua’s larger coolers like NH-U14S or NH-D15S would run a 5GHz overclock a bit cooler and give you more headroom to go above that.

According to that page, they only have 3 coolers that will be great for the 9900K:

    NH-D15

    NH-D15S

    NH-U14S

The NH-U12S is in the good range tho.

reviving only because this is quite literally my first result in google for "u12a and 9900k" Noctua updated their reference chart for the 9900k and it shows the u12a on par with the d12s which I expected regardless because it's known to have comparable performance to the d12 in a smaller form factor.

You mean D15S? Probably not quite on D15 level as D15S comes with only single fan and is noted to be bit under in performance range.

**EDIT 5/17/2020** Rather than double posting, just going to leave this link here.. my 9900kf build works GREAT. Air cooling all the way boys! w00t

ORIGINAL: Yes d12 should be d15. My mind was stuck on using the 12 xD Also, only referencing the charts. They don't give numbers to how well it performs. Just shows that the u12a, d15, and d15s have a 'full green gauge' as I would describe it.. image.png.48d91a9abf6f5dad48c5ce59b76a7d91.png
