Noctua Nh U12s Vs Nh D15 For I7 9700k - Cooling - Linus Tech Tips

I have an i7 9700k.. i plan to overclock.. right now i have noctua nh u 12s.. how much better cooling will i get if i buy noctua nh d 15?

Depends on a lot of factors, but the d15 will obviously perform better, though the nhu12s should be decent for a 9700k, first overclock with the nhu12s and check temps first. 

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad. 

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

There is no way of giving you any definite numbers, mate. It depends on e.g. your case, the fan-configuration in your case and so on. All that can be said is that NH-D15 is the top-of-the-line air-cooler and it will be better.

Are you looking at the classic Noctua colours or the Chromax Black series?

In the US at least, the U12s Chromax Black isn't even in stock, so you might as well get the D15. If you mean classic Noctua, the D15 is $90 and the U12s if $60, I'd probably get the latter. The D15 is better but it's not 50% better, it does cost 50% more though.
