Xeons, especially the older ones are simply not suited for OCing. Also, don't believe everything you see on Youtube. What settings have you tried to this point (while maintaining stability)? Also, don't believe everything you see on Youtube. What settings have you tried to this point (while maintaining stability)? it is stable without even touching the voltage at 350 fsb and checking the first setting of the ram at 500 mhz and it is stable Upvote 0 Downvote A

Also, don't believe everything you see on Youtube. What settings have you tried to this point (while maintaining stability)? Also tried raising voltages cpu's 1.3 1.35 ram voltages 1.59 etc latency is currently at 7 - 7 - 7 with 333fsb and with 350fsb 9-9-9 on auto i tried lowering the multiplier to 8 to 7 to 6 and changing the fsb to get 3.2 ghz (because 350 with 9 fsb equals 3.15) i tried disabling cpus features - enabling features blah blah blah all the noob stuff the reason i made this thread was to get answers from people like you on what i could try e.g cas latency and which i should or ram settings -350ps +50 ps oh and sorry for my english it is very hard to tell you what i need to say dont get something wrong the last thing i would like Upvote 0 Downvote COLGeek

Feb 3, 2016 105 0 4,710 Get yourself X5460 (x9.5), I'm able to OC it to 4 Ghz with 1.35 V on Asus P5B Deluxe ( 965 chipset). I settled on 3.6 Ghz as I'm force to use Shadow Rock Topflow fan (max 160 TDP) in very small box (Magic IBox 6 with two additional fan holes). This processor costs 27 $ on aliexpress. I never had G41 chipset based mobo (I tested P5W Deluxe - 975 chip - no OC at all - max 1333 FSB/ P5K SE - cheap version with P35 chipset - minor success with 3.5-3.6 Ghz OC) but I heard the chipsets with GPU are not best for OC. Feb 3, 2016 105 0 4,710 I use random DDR2 6400 (800Mhz) at default timings but underclocked for 3.6 Ghz - RAM at 760 Mhz with FSB 1520 Mhz - 6 GB. For 4Ghz I used some Patriots 4x1GB fancy 6400 memory which was overclocked to ~842Mhz. I guess the Ram is not the issue if used with the FSB : DRAM 1:1 ratio. Upvote 0 Downvote A

Feb 3, 2016 105 0 4,710 For p5b in bios the settings shows like this: example : CPU frequency - 380 Mhz DRAM frequency - 760 Mhz 380 Mhz is the FSB / DRAM frequency equals 2xFSB which means 1:1 ratio but that's for the old asus motherboards I'm not sure how yours bios looks like and what values for the frequencies it shows but you could to set it like this for e.g. 400 Mhz ( Based on pictures from other OC forum) CPU frequency = 400 Mhz DRAM frequency = 400 Mhz (so the same values) Of course try with lower FSB at the beginning. Feb 3, 2016 105 0 4,710 It looks like for G41/Asrock it could work differently than it worked to me with Asus mainboards. BTW if you set 400 Mhz then what options are available for DRAM ? Upvote 0 Downvote A
