In this review, we will be comparing the G85 and the G7, two Advanced Mirrorless cameras by Panasonic. Panasonic G85 was introduced to the market in September 2016 and Panasonic G7 was launched in May 2015. There is 16 months difference between G85 and G7 so we don't expect to see a huge technology difference between these two cameras but it would still give an advantage to younger G85, especially in sensor tech.

Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs. In this section, we are going to illustrate the Panasonic G85 and Panasonic G7 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Panasonic G85 has external dimensions of 128 x 89 x 74 mm (5.04 x 3.5 x 2.91″) and weighs 505 g (1.11 lb / 17.81 oz) (including batteries). Panasonic G7 has external dimensions of 125 x 86 x 77 mm (4.92 x 3.39 x 3.03″) and weighs 410 g (0.90 lb / 14.46 oz) (including batteries).

G85 G7 Min Average Max Weather SealingWith its weather-sealed body, we believe that the G85 has a big advantage over the G7 which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and FeaturesPanasonic G85 and Panasonic G7's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
Both cameras feature Fully Articulating screens where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels. Fully articulating screens are also useful for taking Selfies and video.Both Panasonic G85 and Panasonic G7 have Four Thirds sized 16.0 MP resolution sensors so sensor size and resolution is not a differentiator between these two cameras.
Another difference between these two cameras is that Panasonic G85's sensor lacks anti-alias (Low-Pass) filter. Removing anti-alias filter increases the sharpness and level of detail but at the same time, it increases the chance of moiré occurring in certain scenes.
