Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day. Panasonic GX85 is significantly lighter (79g ) than the Panasonic G85 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.

Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since both Panasonic G85 and Panasonic GX85 have the same Micro Four Thirds lens mount and Four Thirds sized sensors, lenses will not be a differentiator on total size of the system.

Mirrorless Cameras

G85 GX85 Min Average Max Weather Sealing

With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the G85 has a big advantage over the GX85 which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.

LCD Screen Size and Features

Panasonic G85 and Panasonic GX85's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.

Panasonic GX85 features a Tilting-only screen which is mostly only good for shooting from waist or over-the-head levels. On the other hand, Panasonic G85 sports a Fully Articulated screen which is more flexible and useful, especially for taking selfies and video.

Both Panasonic G85 and Panasonic GX85 have Four Thirds sized 16.0 MP resolution sensors so sensor size and resolution is not a differentiator between these two cameras.

Another similarity between these two cameras is that both Panasonic GX85 and Panasonic G85 sensors lack anti-alias (Low-Pass) filters. Removing anti-alias filter increases the sharpness and level of detail but at the same time, it increases the chance of moiré occurring in certain scenes.

Below you can see the G85 and GX85 sensor size comparison.

Panasonic G85 and Panasonic GX85 have the same sensor sizes so they will provide same level of control over the depth of field when used with same focal length and aperture.

DxOMark Sensor Scores At Camera Decision, we also look at Dxo Mark sensors when available as we think it is a good indicator of image quality.

Panasonic G85 71 22.8 bits 12.5 Evs 656 ISO
Panasonic GX85 71 22.9 bits 12.6 Evs 662 ISO

The number of available lenses is a big deciding factor when choosing your interchangeable lens camera. Panasonic G85 and Panasonic GX85 have the same Micro Four Thirds lens mount and currently there are 132 native lenses available for these cameras.

Another important factor is the availability of image stabilization. Both Panasonic G85 and Panasonic GX85 have Sensor-based Image stabilization which means that all the lenses will be stabilized in these bodies. GX85's built-in Image stabilization system is effective for compensating vibration up to 4.5-stops according to CIPA standards.
