Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs. In this section, we are going to illustrate the Panasonic G95 and Panasonic G85 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Panasonic G95 has external dimensions of 130 x 94 x 77 mm (5.12 x 3.7 x 3.03″) and weighs 536 g (1.18 lb / 18.91 oz) (including batteries). Panasonic G85 has external dimensions of 128 x 89 x 74 mm (5.04 x 3.5 x 2.91″) and weighs 505 g (1.11 lb / 17.81 oz) (including batteries).

Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day. Panasonic G85 is 31g lighter than the Panasonic G95 but we don't think this will make a significant difference.

Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since both Panasonic G95 and Panasonic G85 have the same Micro Four Thirds lens mount and Four Thirds sized sensors, lenses will not be a differentiator on total size of the system.

G95 G85 Min Average Max Weather Sealing

Both the G95 and the G85 have weather sealings in their bodies, making them resistant to water and dust.

LCD Screen Size and Features

Panasonic G95 and Panasonic G85's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.

Both cameras feature Fully Articulating screens where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels. Fully articulating screens are also useful for taking Selfies and video.

Panasonic G95 has a 20.3MP Four Thirds (17.3 x 13 mm ) sized CMOS sensor and features Venus Engine processor. On the other hand, Panasonic G85 has a 16.0MP Four Thirds (17.3 x 13 mm ) sized CMOS sensor .

Panasonic G95's sensor provides 4.3MP more than Panasonic G85's sensor, which gives a significant advantage in real life. You can print your images larger or crop more freely. On the other hand, please keep in mind that Max sensor resolution is not the only determinant of resolving power. Factors such as the optical elements, low pass filter, pixel size and sensor technology also affects the final resolution of the captured image.

Another similarity between these two cameras is that both Panasonic G85 and Panasonic G95 sensors lack anti-alias (Low-Pass) filters. Removing anti-alias filter increases the sharpness and level of detail but at the same time, it increases the chance of moiré occurring in certain scenes.

Below you can see the G95 and G85 sensor size comparison.

Sensor Size and Resolution Comparison image of Panasonic G95 and Panasonic G85 Cameras

Panasonic G95 and Panasonic G85 have the same sensor sizes so they will provide same level of control over the depth of field when used with same focal length and aperture. On the other hand, since Panasonic G85 has 27% larger pixel area (14.21µm2 vs 11.16µm2) compared to Panasonic G95, it has larger pixel area to collect light hence potential to have less noise in low light / High ISO images.

The number of available lenses is a big deciding factor when choosing your interchangeable lens camera. Panasonic G95 and Panasonic G85 have the same Micro Four Thirds lens mount and currently there are 131 native lenses available for these cameras.

Another important factor is the availability of image stabilization. Both Panasonic G95 and Panasonic G85 have Sensor-based Image stabilization which means that all the lenses will be stabilized in these bodies.
