The HC-VX980M captures stunningly vibrant video in Ultra High Definition 4K 3840 x 2160 that expresses extremely small details with incredible clarity. The camera can also take up to 25.9 megapixel interpolated still images. The high megapixel count equips you with the creative versatility to crop and print poster sized images without losing image quality.

BSI MOS Sensor with Crystal Engine 4K

A 1/2.3" backside-illuminated, 18.91 megapixel BSI MOS sensor is coupled with Panasonic’s advanced high speed Crystal Engine image processor, a perfect combination to deliver 4K footage at up to 72Mbps. With increased read-out recording speeds, the advanced sensor effectively minimises distortion of fast moving subjects to produce perfectly rendered images.

Premium LEICA Optics with High Precision AF

To support the 4K resolution image quality, the HC-VX980M utilises a LEICA Dicomar Lens that reproduces crisp footage with true-to-life colours. The lens system is equipped with a high-speed, high-precision AF technology to quickly focus on the subject, making 4K shooting truly simple and easy for anyone.

Intelligent Zoom with Image Stabilisation

A 20x optical zoom extendable up to 40x using the intelligent zoom function is complimented by a 5-axis Hybrid Optical Image Stabilization system to reduce camera shake. The Image Stabilizer provides 5-axis vibration correction by using a combination of optical and digital image stabilization, producing blur free images while in motion, in low light or at a higher telephoto range. The image stabilisation system also features a Level Shot function that automatically detects and corrects tilting photos and video.

30mm f/1.8 Wide Angle Lens

The 30mm (35mm equivalent) wide angle lens is complemented with an f/1.8 maximum aperture allowing you to capture sweeping landscapes and beautiful portraits with ease, even in low light.

4K Photo Mode

Post shooting, view your 4K video and extract the best frame as a high quality 4k (8.29 megapixel) still image. This feature can be used in a variety of scenarios such as getting the perfect moment of a live sports event or wildlife in action. You can even extract a series of still images simulating the motion, creating a flip book type experience.

In-Camera 4K Editing

The VX980M also enables you to view and instantly edit your 4K footage on the touch screen. The camera features several in-built easy to use editing features eliminating the need for complex external editing software.
