The World Wide Web has become a medium not only for delivering information but also for providing applications that can be used by a variety of instruments, including mobile devices. For these reasons the importance of teaching these skills as well as the difficulties of organizing a vast amount of concepts and technologies in a fast-paced environment driven by strong industrial interest and competition are widely recognized. This work discusses a case study on teaching web programming, presenting an approach suitable for both high school and university courses. The main innovation of the curriculum is the content presentation, which focuses on small incremental steps, spanning the majority of term lab sessions, as well as a teaching a case study which centres on user login management. The case study covers all the major topics in web programming and teaches students to develop, as well as apply and integrate, major database concepts such as transactions, stored procedures and security issues. This lays the foundation for developing a larger project, which is suggested as the final step of the curriculum.

The development of .NET Framework has resulted in a strong demand for the implementation of applications using this kind of architecture. However, the quantity or quality of the documentation available is far from the one available for J2EE. This detail is especially worrying when the main objective set is to reveal the concepts of framework from a teaching point of view. This paper describes the teaching approach followed to achieve the abovementioned aim, based mainly on a set of simple tutorials that show the technology basics and two complete applications (miniportal and minibank) in which the application of design patterns when dealing with a business application is presented.

Although smart mobile devices are very capable tools especially for geoscientists in the field, they found limited usage in geosciences because of the complexity in programming of such devices. However, Appforge Crossfire makes it possible for engineers to quickly create and deploy robust applications on most mobile platforms regardless of their operating systems by using Microsoft Visual Basic. In this study, a soil classification program was established for geotechnical purposes and complied and deployed for Symbian, Microsoft Mobile and Palm devices by using Appforge Crossfire in Microsoft Visual Basic programming environment. The application was tested successfully in the most common mobile devices.

Dalam proses ini sistem yang berjalan belum optimal, karena masih ada sistem manual dalam pengerjaanya. Dengan cukup banyaknya pasien setiap harinya, dibutuhkan sebuah aplikasi yang bertujuan untuk membantu proses pengolahan data pasien. It is easy to notice that there are some problems related to the form of functional and information aspects are treated in conjunction. Besides, development methods for Web applications give very few attention for the conception, planning, testing and client evaluation stages. This paper highlights such problems, presenting an evaluation of several methods through a comparison of their main features. Considering the fact that most of methods present several problems, we also present a case study that uses a specific Web application to describe advantages and/or disadvantages of some selected methods.
