PHI 231 - History of Ancient Philosophy4 credits (Fall)Cross-listed as: CLS 231 . A study of the philosophy of ancient Greece and Rome. Traces the growth of Western philosophy from its origins in the sixth century BCE through the third century CE. Includes examination of the Presocratics, Sophists, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Epicureans, Stoics, Sceptics, and Plotinus.Prerequisite: PHI 111 , PHI 121 , or HUM 101 .
