Ferrari F1-75 enjoys track debut at Fiorano | Motors-Addict

Formula 1 takes a huge step towards its brand new era tomorrow as the first official pre-season testing session starts at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, as each team is set to show off their 2022 challengers ahead of the new F1 campaign that begins in March with the Bahrain Granr Prix.

The pre-seasin testing session will also be a great opportunity for the teams and drivers to get a first glimpse and feeling of the new Pirelli tyres. In this regard, the Formula 1 official tyre manufacturier has recently posted an infographic relating to the three days of pre-testing which take place until Friday at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Teams and drivers will have six four-hour sessions available, two per day, but one of these six will necessarily be wet in order to allow Pirelli to gather important data on intermediate and full wet tires. The weather foresees a couple of showers on Friday, but if nature does not perform this task then in the lunch break tank trucks full of water will go to make the circuit wet and ensure that at 14:00 for the start of the afternoon session the track is suited for at least intermediate tires. Obviously, if the rain falls naturally on Wednesday or Thursday, then the artificial irrigation of the track will no longer be needed on Friday.

Teams will be able to choose 30 sets of tires in a range of slick tires that includes five compounds. The C1, the hardest, has no brackets and is white, while the C2 has two white stripes. C3 is yellow with brackets, C4 is red with brackets, C5 is red without brackets and is the softest. Formula 1’s sole supplier also instructed the teams in terms of minimum starting pressures as shown in the following graphic:
